1998 Chevy Fuel Pump Problems


i got a 89 chevy k1500 z71 a long time ago the rear end went out got it fixed fuel pump i changed couldnt get it to start said fuck it took it to a mechanic and the cpi system went out and i got that replaced ran for a while went out on a job then i came back and fuel pump wasnt even cycling thats where im at now has anybody had this problem or replaced their pump and sender with aftermarket pieces like holly aeromotive etc........

I had the worst times with Holley's fuel systems, there pumps are so $hitty compared to Warlboro

Sorry for the post bump but i wasn't sure if you fixed it yet. All full size GM's from about 95 and up have fuel pump problems. They only last about 80k. The only pumps I trust are delco pumps, all the others seem to fail after a month or two. If you do change the pump again, look at the wiring connector real close. The pins are small and a weak fuel pump draws enough amprage that they melt the plug sometimes. Hope that helps.

If you want to check the relay for it,swap it with the horn relay and try to honk the horn.

+1 to everything above.

Also note that on my 96 Tahoe, not only did the pump fail, but I still had pump problems after the new one went in.

As it turns out, there was intermittent connection between the fuel pump, and the plug that powered it. I bent the pins on the pump "down" a little to force them to make contact with their mating terminals on the plug, problem solved.
