friend of mine needs help

he drives a 94 chevy 1500 with a 350 and its an auto. his problem is that his speedo went out and now it wont shift. he can shift manually, but it wont shift itself. wut could be the problem

Possibly some wires got fried or fuses. Try posting in the "other vehicles" section

There is a reading from the speedo down to the trans and the trans shifts off the reading from the speedo so now that the speedo no longer works the trans does not no when to shift so it stays in first gear if you fix the speedo the trans will most likely start shifting itself again
