99 Taurus

Alright.. i've got a buddy at my day job who is having troubles with his wife's car.. It is a 1999 Ford Taurus 3.0l 6 cylinder EFI, automatic. Lately, after very short drives, he says that you can hear the coolant or water literally boiling in the reservoir tank very badly. It is leaking, but the only place that he can tell where from is around the cap on the tank. The temp gauge reads normal and the car has only overheated once when he didn't pay attn to the level of coolant and it leaked out. He has already paid a pretty penny to have the radiator replaced and the mechanic is now telling him that it is his motor. He said nothing seems different with the motor. I told him that it sounded like they were trying to make some money and that I'd ask around. If you guys have any insite, I'd appreciate it. Thanks.

P.S. I told him that it could very well be something simple like the cap, but I haven't seen it in action so I couldn't tell him for sure.

I cant really say too much about that years taurus but I can vouch for the radiator cap being just a little too small allowing him to hear the noise of the coolant. Tell him to go back to the dealer or even another ford dealership and ask for them to check the caps fit.
