91 Ranger Please HELP!


my problem is the timing belt ive took the crank shaft pulley off and where the timing belt slips on theres like a guard and you cant fit the belt between it and it wont come off how does this work?? someone please help!

its a pain in the ass

you either

A. Break the cover off

or

B. remove the crank pulley to get to the bottom bolt

i preffer choice A

your talking about the back cover?? if yes then thats metal so can i grind it off?

well let me change that the back cover is plastic but the part at the bottom i need out of the way is metal.. heres a pic of what im talking about.

There's a bolt behind the cam sprocket

thats what you gotta get to

OMG, dont listen to any one, you have to remove the cog from the crankshaft to do this! Then you put your new belt in place and reinstall the gear! its that simple, there are no shortcuts! it just may require one extra 6 pack!

whoops, thought he meant the front timing belt cover

i cant believe a noob called me out on my own motor

i tried getting it off we couldnt break it for hell 3 of us tried it.. any easy way to get this thing off?? how did you lock your crankshaft from spining?? we used a 2x4 and tried to hold it but no go..

how do i set the timing back ?? need help with that also.. im going to grind the lip off of the bottom and slide the belt on hope it wont mess anything up...

theres no way i can get an impact gun where the trucks at.. isnt there another way to do this?? i tried to grind alittle away from the lip to slip the belt in and still no go.. and i can't break the cog loose because it moves.. is there away to hold it in place?? we tried a board but it didnt help someone help me please before i burn this truck
