2004 Ford Explorer XLT Question

hey all,

I am asking this for my sister-in-law. when using the cruise control at lower speeds, the engine will cut off when you press the set or coast buttons on the steering wheel. it seems to work fine at higher speeds (45+).

any thoughts on what might be causing this??

i understand that there is a lower limit as to where it can be used, but if you try and set it, the engine shuts off, dies, stalls. etc.

This doesn't answer your question, but why in the heck would you be using the cruise control at anything less than highway speeds?

i sometimes use it in the neighborhood when i am doing 40 or so.

but it's weird that the car would shut off when you hit one of the buttons.

they took it to the dealership and there is something wrong with the computer on the 04 year that causes this (not all, just some). they did something and it was a good fix so far
