There is a fuel pump cutoff switch somewhere, not sure where it's at on a Ranger though. It's designed to cutoff fuel in case of an accident, they can (somewhat frequenty) trip for no apparent reason. Find it and try resetting it.

So the pump does work? Or it doesn't? If it's intermittent, problem may lie in the ignition switch (electrical part under the steering column). Just a guess though, don't go replacing parts wildly until you check it.

have you checked to make sure the electrical is grounding properly. this can cause an intermitent problem.
