7.5 Rear Diff

How much torque can the 7.5 rear dif. handle on a 1980 ford farmont. Also does anyone know of a 5 lug conversion for the 7.5.

Not much, though as long as you don't run sticky tires you probably won't break anything.

Not sure on that one, wouldn't it be easier though to take care of both your concerns by swapping in a 5 lug 8.8?

The 7.5 rear can be made 5 lug by using 2 Ranger drivers side axles and that rear end is a time bomb on sticky tires. I have been using 3:73 gears and a Auburn unit in my 7.5 for several years now w/slicks but my car weighs 2700 pounds and make 280hp and 310tq. It's only a matter of time before it goes and i go to the track prepared for its failure every time. :wink

if you plan on running slicks or 300+hp you need the 8.8, they are swappable from gt's the fox style's are a little shorter, a new frpp 8.8 could be had for about 800 something

Nothing sucks harder and faster than hitting the gas and listening to your rear end shatter and spin....

20 minutes ago, my 7.5 did exactly that... and my V6 stang isn't even putting out 200+ hp and its an auto.......
