I can't believe dodge is only making this thing in AUTOMATIC!!! WTF!?!?!?!?! Why don't they make a deal with a tremec like ford and GM do and use one of their trannys?

Nice car and it looks like it will have awesome power. But the fact that it's automatic will make me never want to buy one.......

its a six speed auto that means it can be an auto or a manual

Yeah the challenger will have an Autostick. Which is manual or auto. But still i know what you mean. Pushing a little lever to the side is Stupid with NO Clutch. its nice for DD but you just dont get the full pleasure of feeling the power like a Standard. When im sitting a red light with my hand on the Shift Knob i can feel the car rumbling. i love it.

Does it use a clutch, or a torque converter?

I am seriously considering trading my stang for one of these in '09 with the manual... either SRT or R/T version... SRT is a 6.1, R/T is a 5.7

The R/T Challenger will be a turd, and a stock GT will wipe the floor with one.

With the Camaro and Challenger being more "upscale" than the Mustang, will Ford follow, and make the Mustang heavier/more optioned/pricier, or will they try to go niche, and make it smaller/lighter? I'd love to see the return of the LX notchback, and a car that weighs UNDER 3k lbs.

Why not? What's in these cars that's so damn heavy? An RX-8 has more doors, and manual transmission cars are under 3k lbs. Is a 3v 4.6L V8 really 500 lbs more than a Renesis? I mean, everything else should be fairly similar weightwise, except for the second exhaust pipe on the mustang, and the IRS on the RX8.

FixT.

According to my local Dodge stealership salesman. Is he correct? I guess we'll see when they come out.

I think the HP depends on the tranny you choose (auto vs stick) if I remember right.

As for gas milage... these are muscle cars not Hybrids :p

True 'dat, the Charger is a muscle car by definition, the Challenger/Mustang/Camaro (and I would argue Supra) are all pony cars.

Whatever.... I call them muscle cars.

Personally I think the new challenger looks really nice and is faster than our cars stock. I like Mustangs a LOT but am also open minded... you should try it.
