my bro in law told me that the only difference between his cruiser and a regular old crown vic was the rear end. he said they put in a 3.73 and that was the only mod. he just drives an old beat up vic though. i don't know anything about newer ones. i also don't know if that was mentioned before in this thread or not... sue me.

in a nutshell.

Part of the VIN number used by Ford to designate the heavy - duty police package installed onto Crown Victoria's from 1985-2008. These cars can top out at around 140+ MPH and can out - accelerate most stock high performers like the Mustang and the Camaro. Can impact 6" curbs at 60 MPH and receive no to little damage due to the large sidewalls on the tires and the heavy duty suspension. This car is also so heavy if that it were to impact another vehicle at highway speeds; the other vehicle would become "non recognizable". Horrible side impact ratings. Horrible rear impact ratings, (explodes like the Pinto does). Can go on harsh terrain at high speed and not get stuck or damaged like other cars; i.e.: (mud, gravel, 10-15% grade hills, ditches, curbs, speed bumps, rough roads, train tracks). Indeed the Crown Victoria is deceiving in appearance, it could probably stomp you're car or truck into the ground.

My brother's P71 crown vic was pacing a G35 on the highway. The look on the G35 face was priceless when at 135mph, the vic was still there.

There is a guy around town that has one of those tinted license plate covers to cover up the fact he isn't a undercover cop. His clown dic.. er crown vic (I joke, I Joke) looks just like a cruiser. It actually was a retired one. He still has the flood light on the side. He has some GPS doodad mounted on the window just to make it look a bit more realistic. I've heard about this car around town, and how he likes to intimidate people so they don't drive faster than he is, then he blasts by him. We both were neck to neck at a light, and when it turned green I blasted past him. He of course tried to catch up, but I was too far ahead. I think he was surprised that I reacted that way. I don't mind people owning these cars, but to own one, just to bully ignorant people around on the road is kinda.. douche-baggy to do. I could see doing it one night just for shits and giggles, but it's a nightly thing to him. Too many people know about it now. I'm not knocking on anyone in this thread, because it doesn't seem to me you guys were purposely doing anything. Some people are just stupid. Of course this is just IMHO. Feel free to flame me.

I was pulled over by a FHP charger on i95 a few weeks back. he was doing at least 110 to catch up to me. pulled me over..after coming back with my credentials, I asked if it had the r/t package. he said it didn't...but with everything said and done to it basically was. Also said it tops out at 150mph. Not that I would run from a cop anyways...but I wouldn't run from something that could keep up with my car like that

I assume you are talking about the Crown Vic Police Interceptor (P71). They top out right around 130-135 but it takes forever to get there. Not really a whole lot of differences between them and a regular Crown Vic. You can do a search for P71 Crown Vic and it will tell you the specs.

My dad used to be a police officer here in Parkersburg and his car was an interceptor crown vic. I remember running out state route 50 with him and we hit 140. Damn thing felt like it had more left too. A lot more actually
