On top of that, most speculation is that the GTR V-spec will be a few seconds faster yet than the ZR1 'round the 'ring.
Makes me wonder if there will be another V-spec Nur. There's also a HUGE difference between the GTR and the Corvette in terms of mentality. The GT-R is chock full of all sorts of fancy-pants computers; traction control, yaw-control, super-mega ATESSA whatever, that allow any jackass to climb in and drive like a superhero. Hell, it's got a freakin' GPS system built into it that automatically disables the 112mph speed governor and puts it in sport mode when it knows it's at a racetrack! You just jump in and try to drive like that in the Chevy and it will kick your ass by putting itself into a tree. Either way, $100k buys you a VERY fast car. It just depends on what you want: do you want to have to learn to drive, or do you want the car to drive for you?

No.
It's a dual-clutch six speed sequential manual.

It has two clutch plates, not just one.
A lot of high performance cars (read: track cars, not hi-perf street cars) run multi-disc setups. It gives you a lot of clutch surface area with less effective rotational mass (the discs are much smaller diameter).

depends how you look at it...it shifts faster then any human ever can, so it wouldnt be as fast if it didnt have it. but it does kind of take out the fun factor, i say kind of because how are you not going to have some fun in a 11 sec car.

you can shift it if you want with the paddles, its just that it doesnt have a 3rd peddle.

yeah, it's not that it shifts itself like an automatic (though it can).
You still tell it when to shift, and you can still "drop the clutch", as it were (have it in neutral, blip the gas, shift to first). It's still a true manual transmission, as there's no power-sucking torque converter in the drivetrain, it's just doing your clutch work for you. I know I'm starting to reiterate... You still row your own gears, you just don't have to do anything with the clutch pedal.

And before you rant about how much that sucks, go drive one.
Ferrari versions shift in 150 milliseconds or less. That's clutch-shiftout-shiftin-unclutch in 15 HUNDREDTHS of a second. Even powershifting you can't shift that fast.
