Focus Ignition Switch

The net has all kind of failures, 3 and more on the same car for ignition switches. I am about to replace my second one.

Anyone else have this problem. Aparently Ford is not willing to help you after 36,000 miles

if you're talking about the key cylinder, there's no good fix for those.

Yes, that is it.

Damn............ I wish Ford would keep replacing them or fix it

They are not cheap, and then you have to re-key them at a lock smith.

Thanks anyway :-(

Focus Forum

I went onto a Focus forum and found the following information:

Hey Robert,
Ford did away with the original style and came up with a new one. The old style used a single sided, very small tumbler and was VERY prone to jaming if any debris or dirt got in. The new cylinders went back to the "old style" Ford tumblers that they have used for 30 years which are 3 imes bigger and double sided so they wont have that problem again. I need your name, address, telephone number and vin#. Then, after you send me that info on here, call me at work tomorrow. Ill take your credit/debit card info over the phone. It will run you $65 with a spare door key or $75 if you want another pats key. If you have any questions, ill answer them when you call, thanks.

Oh, and yes, it will work with your keys, i just cut a blank or door key to insure that your key code works. Some people want another pats key especially when i am only charging $10 for one cut to match your car. If you already have 2 pats keys, you can program the third yourself, if you only have one pats key, you will have to have your dealership program the one that i send you.
