my mom has this problem with her car... I dont know where to start looking so im asking you guys..everynow and again the car starts sputtering like there is water in the gas line... but there is no water in the gas line.. I know that cuz I emptied in out completly could it possibly be spark plugs? but it only happens now and then.. not all the time it happens more often when ther is a lot of moisture in the air.. so hmm but when we went out of town one night I could hardly keep it running when I started it then it started sputtering what do you guys think??

I'd say make sure you've recently got a tune up on the thing, if it's still idling/running poorly or not at all test your engine's compression (local autozone, etc has cheapo instrument for this, around $20-60) as this will yield a much better diognostic or understanding of the state your engine is in.

- - Spark plugs, wires, cracked distributor/rotor, clogged fuel filter or injectors, etc.... all typical parts that when gone south, can make an engine putter - -

Ahh.... I wish I had seen this earlier. I have a '98 Mark VIII LSC and I had the same problem! Replace the IAC. That should do it.
