The Ranger is DEAD!

Started up the Ranger today (98, 2.5L 4-cyl, 85K miles) and it ran for close to 10 or 15 seconds and conked out. Tried giving it gas, tried leaving it in neutral, still only getting a few seconds out of it. Fuel filter, oil filter are new. Mechanic friend said chances are it's not the fuel pump. Any ideas on a diagnosis before it gets towed away tomorrow?

If it has fuel then you need spark and/or oxygen...

But I am thinking it is fuel related though...

Haha, this isn't going to help at all but I drove a 83 ranger for about a year before I got my stang. What a joy that was... I would drive around corners and it would just randomly die taking with it the brakes and power steering...

My ranger fixed itself though it would be a pain then I would leave it for the night and it would run fine the next day .
