3 tunes for SF3

When you buy an SF3 from AM you get 3 tunes from Bama: Street, Performance and Racing. What is the difference? I chose 87, 91 and 93+ octane for the three tunes, thinking I might want ot changed based on the octane available and how much is in my pocket (and the price of gas). But now I am wondering if I should have chosen 91, 93 and 93, assuming I would normally keep 93 in the car and would only drop down if needed.

Help!

Thanks,
RT

when I talked to them the difference I was told was if I do not race then the race one is not for me. The street one is better at the lower RPMs for more torque and the performance one is better at the higher RPMs.

I got the 87,91 and 93 Street. I have never put the 91 in it but have had 87 and 93 in it. It seems kind of hard to tell the differnce between the 87 and 93 because there just is not a lot of chances to really hit it when you are not on a track. I am sure on the track you might be able to tell more. It appears to the the 93 made a bigger hit in the gas milelage too. I was runnig about 20.7 with the 93 in it and run about 22 with the 87. I am kind of testing this further though. Right now I switched back to the 87 for a while only because for me it just did not seem to be worth the extra money for a little more power to drive around town. That is just me though. Kind of a hassle to find 93 gas sometime too. I knew certain ones that had it so I always had to go there.

A street tune is designed to be a daily driver. It focuses on the 1500-3500 rpm band, and it does give up a few hp at the top (which is why there's a performance tune). Automatics get a nice enhancement with our shift/lock schedules, plus torque reduction settings and pressure settings.

The performance tune is aimed at the 3,000 rpm and up band, and it focuses more on the top end horsepower and flat-out performance driving. Timing, fuel, and pedal maps are a little more aggressive, and this is a good compromise between a daily driver and track tune. The automatic trans settings are the same as they are on the street tune.

With a race tune, you have to use the highest grade of gas available. We can tune for 91 octane instead of 93, but make sure you specify which grade you'll be using (you can always use a higher-grade octane, but using a lower-grade is bad for your engine). We recommend that you use the race tune strictly for racing, since the pedals are very aggressive, which makes it very, very easy to spin your tires. With automatics, race tunes use a unique shifting curve and torque converter schedule to help it keep up with the increase in power.

It's worth mentioning that our fuel economy option has been integrated into all of our tunes, so we've found the best balance between fuel and power. That means you can go fast without having to fill up quite as often. I hope this answers your questions, let me know if I didn't explain any of these properly, since I'm not a tuner (I just speak some of the lingo).
