We do ship these via UPS. We package them so that we haven't had much trouble with damage in the past. Not to rule it out, either. The problem is that if we had a "slow leak" I could say that it's a mount/balance issue, etc. ...something that we caused.

In this event, the tire has a blowout, which is unusual. It's definitely not the quality of the tire, and I can't think of anything we could have done to cause this.

This is why I'd like to look at the tire and send it to Sumitumo for examination. In the mean time, we owe the OP either a new tire plus $20-30 bucks to mount and balance it, or the cost of a new tire plus $20-30 bucks to mount and balance.

I'm curious:

You have a centimeter round hole in the tire - how did it hold air at all? That would deflate pretty quickly. So it wouldn't have made it to you from AM air'd up,,,and you wouldn't have been able to mount it, or drive it, as it would have been flat already. Sounds like you ran over something (I've had some 'forked' pieces of wood puncture my tires like that before - usually a larger hole though).

Not bashing the OP here,,,and maybe I misread something,,,but it sounds like you simply got a bad flat tire right?

I would think you could tell if it was 'blown out', or 'punctured' from the outside by looking at it right?

There are a lot of things that could have happened, which is why we want to get the tire back, so we can take a look at it to see if this is a quality control issue, or something else. It's difficult enough to figure out what might have happened to a tire when it's in front of you sometimes (though sometimes it's easy to diagnose--like a fork stuck in the shoulder of the tire), but trying to do that remotely with just a couple of pictures is even more difficult.

Make sure you call and ask if they have 4 rims in, it will still say available on the site even if there is only 1. Then you will have to wait 16 days just to find out they are not in, and you will have to wait 4 months to get them. Then of coarse if you want your money back they will get an attitude. (customer service over the phone not on MM)

Im just sayin.

There's no doubt that the tire wouldn't have held air with the hole in it that you see in the picture he sent us in. It's exactly as described above, a "pea" sized hole in the tire. They sat in his house for 12 or 13 days with that hole in it and kept air pressure? No, something happened during driving.

As AMStanger said, though. We want to get the tire back to make sure that it was an impact issue and not a defect in the tire. In the mean time, we're manning up and getting a new tire for the customer (160-170 I believe) and paying to have it mounted/balanced (20-30 dollars). This is going above and beyond, which is something we believe. Whether the customer ends up appreciating it enough to shop with us again, that's not our motive. Our motive is striving to have a platinum level customer service experience for all customers.

Not too long ago, we went through a month or so where our wheel stock was hindered due to some behind-the-scenes stuff. It showed that we still had a wheel in stock, however we don't charge until items ship. So I don't know why you were charged before. I haven't looked into your case in particular, it's just how we normally operate. Either way, we're sorry about your experience and have NO problem refunding for something as obvious as not having an item in-stock. It's really a no-brainer. I'm sorry if you felt the rep you spoke to gave you an attitude. That's not a common practice, here at AmericanMuscle. If you remember a name, let me know and I'll make sure it doesn't happen again. Or your name, I can always find out who your call was directed to.
