Should I be upset with AM?

Hello everyone,

I am a college student slowly trying to fix up my car and as any other student would know every penny counts.. I recently purchased some new GT500 rims + Sumitomo tires from American Muscle while my car was getting painted.

So I get my car back, slap on my rims and I feel cool of course

Literally my first trip to school and back I get home and one of my rear tires is going flat so I go to the tire shop and theres a hole on my sidewall! The tire has 12 miles on it at this point and there is no chance at repairing it.. This hole is about the size if not smaller than a centimeter.

So I call AM up about some sort of warranty or replacement plan as I did not hit anything and most tire companies in my area offer at the LEAST a 30 day warranty regarding any issues.. I was told "they never had an issue like this" and to email them pictures and they would most likely replace it.. So I did and about a week and a half later I still have no response.. I call them up and was told I would get a call back in 10 minutes.. I dont get a call but an email an hour later stating they would NOT replace it because it held air fine for a 13 day period before I called them with my issue. (I don't feel that is a legitimate excuse.. the rim and tire were on for a day.. 12 of those 13 days the rim+tire were in my room.)

Now regardless I'm upset because of my cheap customer service I received, because I could not find the same tire locally and had to dish out another $240 for a tire that doesnt even match.. thus making a $180 tire become a $420 tire, and because AM has been the ONLY aftermarket place I've been going to making me shift my loyalty to other companies after I've already bought so much from them.

I may be over reacting but I do see this as me getting wronged.

Anyhow.. I do know how everyone loves pictures so heres my new and improved car!

It is a cobra clone, I did put on the 03-04 ABC exclusive Front cobra bumper and I love it.. I know a lot of people have questions about it..

The color is atomic orange from the new C5's.. Amazing color in person..with a flat black leman's racing stripe.

Love the car, but get GT badges if it's not a cobra.

Paint and rims are a good choice

And yea I would be angered and would shift m loyalty to another store. AM is wrong. Usually if there's any problems a business would be happy to help. Sorry to hear you got the shit end of the stick haha.

Send a PM to Emily (AMStanger). Tell her what's going on, what you've done already, send pics, and ask her if she can help you out. One of my 2010 GT Premium rims was defective (holes for the lug nuts were too small and the socket wouldn't fit) and the normal customer service kept giving me shit about not using the right socket even though I bought the thinnest socket I could find at any local hardware or auto parts store. I even sent them pictures of the socket and a video of how the socket doesn't fit and if you managed to get it in, it would get stuck. They still told me I wasn't using the right socket. I got fed up and contacted Emily (AMStanger) about it and it took maybe 2 days for her to email me a UPS ticket to ship the wheel back to them (no charge to me) and a new wheel and tire were on the way. Emily takes care of business.

I would be. They should have done somthing about that. I thought you were going to say something like "they sent me a messed up tire" and never contacted them.

But since you did and they didnt do anything about it, thats fucked up. Id call them and call them until you get somethine done about it. Because they sold you a bad tire. 1) because it had a hole in it, and 2) because it was a sumitomo

First, let me say that I bet this will work and get it fixed.

Now let me say that is should NOT have to come to this. You have already tried to get it fixed the right way (calling them). AM should not deny fixing something and then when it goes on a forum, fix it. Good customer service would fix things when they are a single person issue. Good customer service would fix things before they go public w/ a bad review.

While true, I think just about every company has at least one monkey in customer service that couldn't tell the difference between his ass and a hole in the ground. I've had to deal with Lenovo and Dell support for warranty replacement, sometimes you find someone who doesn't ask questions and makes the customer feel appreciated and sometimes you get stuck with the guy with the fork in his ass.

Wow, I'm really sorry that you had such a rough experience with us. I looked into your order and I've spoken to the people you worked with to make sure that this doesn't happen again. I'm sorry that the situation had to go this far, and I want to make this right for you.

It sounds like you might have been sent a defective tire. If you still have it, I'd like to send a return tag out to you for it so we can have Sumitomo's experts take a look at it to see if this was an isolated incident. If you like, I'll send you a replacement tire that matches the other three, and reimburse you for mounting/balancing costs for that tire so you have a full set of matching tires. If you'd rather keep the tire you have now, I'll refund you for the price of the original tire. I'm sending you a pm so I can work out the finer details with you. In the mean time, please let me know if you have any other questions.

I agree, this should have been handled without having to go to a forum, and as AMStanger said above, it is being dealt with internally. Unfortunately, the agent that you spoke to didn't handle the call in the way that I/you would have liked to. We will handle this internally so that it does not re-occur.

As for the linked post above regarding our wheel quality, we have a lifetime structural warranty and 1 year finish warranty on all of our wheels. About Us - AmericanMuscle.com

The wheel in question in that thread was damaged due to impact. We have not had issues with this in the past, and ship out many sets of wheels each day.

If you have absolutely any questions feel free to PM myself, or AMStanger for details. I would be glad to answer any questions regarding the quality of our wheels and can respond with pictures, video, etc.

AMCHRIS how do yall ship do you go through ups....

if so i work for ups and not all the guys are gentle with a package so i can see how this is possible...

in any shipping company not everyone is careful with packages....

most of the time the guys loading the trailers are rushed to hurry up therefore not being able to handle a package the way they would like

kinda like most big companies they are in the business to make as much money as possible as quick as possible while flirting with the line of unhappy customers and happy...
