ALWAYS read the fine print. Don't fault the company for your mistake.

Sucks though man. Glad to hear you are moving to a GT! Keep us updated on the mods!

Just because you didn't do the full research on a product does not put the company at fault for it...nowhere in any sort of business standards does it say that disclaimers have to be in big red letters so everyone can see...its called doing your research before buying a part...I've gotten boned by not doing research, but it most certainly didn't stop me from ordering from the company again...

I understand why you are upset.

From their perspective...with a program like "tunes for life", the price structure is based on assumptions and averages. Averages meaning, one guy that's a mod freak might end up getting 30 different tunes from them, they lost their arse on that guy. But many others will get one set of tues and be done. Assumptions meaning, the line is drawn and they have no obligationif certain things take place such as switching cars, transferring to a new owner (not sure what the exact rules are). Sure, they could make it a complete free for all but then the price would be higher and it may not be competitive with other companies' tuning programs.

We handled this with PM, but I wanted to make sure I touched base with everyone so that anyone else with this question doesn't feel misled.

I promise we aren't intentionally trying to "hide" that info. I've told our web team about it so that it's added in a few other easier to see places.

So you guys can obviously see that $150 for Free Tunes for Life on any Mustang you ever own would be insane for us to offer. Our program is intended to save people money who plan on keeping/modding their car for a while. Very rarely, something will happen like this where someone buys into the Free Tunes for Life program and sells the car the next week and gets a new one. It's a very tough call for us, because we have 5 full time employees who do nothing but tune to pay who now have to write new tunes from scratch. Your new car is a different PCM code, different set of mods, etc. So they have to start from the ground up again. That, and we occasionally have people who purchased the old car calling asking for new tunes. So now we still have to cover the old Mustang and any new Mustang in the future? This is why we had to put a cap on it.

The Free Tunes for Life program will cover the life of your current Mustang at the time of Free Tunes enrollment as long as you own it and we cover the mods.

With that being said, I still made an exception for the owner, and instead of the $150, I split the difference with him and made it $75, which we only did because he literally JUST bought his old V6 tunes.

I'm sorry if this wasn't more clear. I can tell you that the quality of our mail-order tune will surpass most $400 dyno tunes from a company who isn't a Mustang-specific shop. It'll be worth the $75, ESPECIALLY if you plan on keeping this car for more than a month. Sorry, had to bust some balls there! LOL

What he said ^ I was very upset at the time because honestly I read everything I could before buying this tuner and never saw anything about having to buy new tunes when switching cars. Nor did I know I was changing cars. But Chris has really helped me out. AM will still be my #1 choice for mustang parts. And it should be for everyone else too. So dont be misled by my dumb ass complaining because it was my fault. And Chris, did you have to bash me anymore? Everyone has been laughing since they read my post lol

For sure, I have been buying from AM since my first mustang. Never had any problems until this came up. And it was fixed very professionally and fair.

I know your original problem has been fixed, but this post just popped a question into my head...

You do know the tuner can only be used on one car right? Which means that once you start using it on your new gt, you won't ever be able to use it on the v6 again.

This has nothing to do with american muscle/bama chips either... It's SCT. Just wanted to make sure this was clear, lol... I don't know if you found the small print for this yet

My guess is they will still charge you for a new tune since you're probably going to be using the GT/GT500 PCM and not your original thus needing a whole new tune, not a modified tune.

If you get a dyno tune for $150 you can expect your Mustang to blow up in a week.

Exactly. It's free tunes for life for that vehicle since they aren't having to write a whole new file every time you make a change..

Wait wait wait... I'm a little confused. You still have the original car?

You know that the original Mustang must go back to stock and stay stock if you want the second car to be able to be tuned, correct? You can't tune 2 cars with one tuner, as their vin-locked, free tunes for life or not.

I returned it to stock and sold the car, reason I may have said I still have the car is because I sold the v6 to my mom. So basically its still ''around''
