Upset about previous purchase. Any help? or anything i can do?

Hello my name is Andy. Im a pretty big regular on american muscles site and have bought numerous items. I have always had pretty good experiences with the products except for one. Last October my girlfriend wanted to buy me a couple presents for my birthday. I bought a steeda chrome shift handle and wheel spacers. Now that i have driven with the spacers for awhile i notice shaking and vibrations and to the point where i had to remove them. My problem is that the product really gave me issues after the 30 day period and now im stuck with them and I have an angry girlfriend because I have to basically throw my present away. Im a really smart guy too buy the way; so I even torqued them down 100ft/lbs and did research on the reviews and they were all positive when i bought them. Soooooo.... Is there anything I can do? Can i send them back for even half of what i paid or for store credit? I would love to swap them out for something so I have something to show for her present. I have a feeling im gonna get shafted but AM is known for good service so I thought I would at least ask. This has also put me off from buying from you guys. That shifter is nice but even that didn't fit right. The boot wouldnt come down far enough. thanks btw

You might have better luck contacting the manufacture of the products that were gifted to you. A return policy is a return policy though, so you might have to skip past the distributor (AmericanMuscle).

you aren't going to be getting shafted. if you noticed something in the 1st month and didn't do anything about it that's your own fault. don't start talking about a product or a company when you have issues and don't say anything about it till 8 months later.

will they help you? who knows, but if they won't it isn't because they aren't a good company

How is it my fault?? It drove perfect in the first month. Did you read my post? I think that american muscle or the manufacturer should be responsible for these. they are dangerous and after the fact found out from a tech that they stretch and bend your lugs. I didnt see any warning or caution on their site when i bought them. My lugs could have snapped they were vibrating so much. Im going to do more research and see if theres a manufacturer warranty since nobody from AM responded to me. If i don's see anything im going to give AM a call and go from there. If there csr doesnt help me out im going to delegate the issue until its solved. This pisses me off that they even sell these now that i know

1.5in Billet Aluminum Mustang Wheel Spacers (Pair) at AmericanMuscle.com - Free Shipping!

These are the ones i bought. I have a 2002GT with 95cobra r rims. torqued down 100ft/lb tires are perfectly rotated and balanced, perfect alignment, stock springs. Im not bashing Am...I actually really like the company...Its just unfortunate I get stuck with a dangerous, 119$ product, that now is just sitting in my closet after less than a year...

Not bashing you, but you claim to have done research on the product (wheel spacers). It doesn't take much research to see that they are VERY contraversial and most people don't recommend them. You should have picked this up in the research.

There are so many variables that can happen in 8 months. Unless something is defective on the actual spacers, I think you'll have a hard time getting anything in return.

Well I looked at the reviews and even on this forum people said they were ok. I don't really remember the two types that came up in my research there was hubcentric ones and ______ones. Trust me i researched. People were saying the cheap ebay ones that have are universal and have oval shaped cutouts were bad because they move around and counterweigh the wheel. I already called am and they said theres nothing they can do

Yeah you guys are right. I shld just follow my intuition. Only reason why i bought them was because they were from AM. but yeah ik about spacers. Ill do it right next time and get 10.5" rims and tires

I have the same spacers on my car. Was running stock 17 inch rims and now im running 18x9's. Its been about a year and i have had no problems. Did you re-torque them down after a week or two of driving? From what i understand they do need re-torqued after the initial installation. Since then i only re-torque when i swap out my winter/summer tires/rims just to make sure they stay snug.

I don't think I would ever install wheel spacers...especially 1.5" wide spacers, IMO that is just asking for trouble. :/

I really hope you can get your problem figured out! Sucks when something doesn't work as you had expected...but sometimes you may just have to eat the $100. :/

^thanks. Yeah i think spacers are just one of those things. Im just gonna eat the cost. I don't wanna sell them now cause i think that would be shifty since they shake. Its not a big deal now that i think about it cause they did look cheesy imo and im gonna lower my car in a couple weeks so clearance may have been an issue.

I like how you try to blame them for selling a "dangerous" product. the products fine, hell theres not much with them that can go wrong. Are you sure you wheels wernt just out of balance or your lug nuts loose? Those 2 things seem much more likley

We definitely don't want to see an unhappy customer. I'm sorry that you're having the issues. Have you checked the wheels to make sure all wheel weights are in-tact? Just a thought.

Either way, the last thing we want is a customer unhappy with their purchase from us. We're Mustang guys, too. I would be nervous if I had a vibration, regardless whether or not it was the spacers.

If you shoot a PM over to 'AMStanger' with your order number, we'll gladly credit you for the spacers or shoot you out another set.

Hope this helps!
