IDK, part of me thinks I could do something different to keep it from smacking my forehead, but IDK. The first 100 rds were 230 gr hardball and they went fine, the other 150 were 185 gr UMC's and 230 gr ranger T HP's. Those gave me more problems than the 230 gr FMJ's did. Could be that, could be many things. Too many variables.

Erratic ejection is usually caused by improper extractor tension. I started getting brass to the face, so i adjusted the extractor and now all is well.

Google how to test 1911 extractor tension and if it is off, how to adjust it.

Doesn't that require filing?

I bet S/A could take care of it for me with the lifetime warranty or something...

No sir. You literally take the extractor out and use the channel in the slide to bend it to where it holds the case rim tighter.

Odessa, I considered the Ruger LCP and LC9 and the Kel Tec PF9 and P3AT, but I just didn't like them. They didn't feel right, and I don't want an external safety. The Kahr CM9 is perfect.

Just won a free CHL class from a local gun forum. Going to use it nearest to August as I can, as that is the month I turn 21.

In Texas after the classroom part you have to qualify at with your weapon, here is what you have to do.

CHL SHOOTING TEST
3 yards, 20 rounds
•1 shot, 2 seconds, 5 times
•2 shots, 3 seconds, 5 times
•5 shots, 10 seconds, 1 time

7 yards, 20 rounds
•5 shots, 10 seconds, 1 time
•2 shots, 4 seconds, 1 time
•3 shots, 6 seconds, 1 time
•1 shot, 3 seconds, 5 times
•5 shots, 15 seconds, 1 time

15 yards, 10 rounds
•2 shots, 6 seconds, 1 time
•3 shots, 9 seconds, 1 time
•5 shots, 15 seconds, 1 time

http://www.krtraining.com/KRTraining...L/CHLtest.html

Looks easy but I still want to go out and practice a bit.

Yeah if you cant do that then you shouldn't even be there. My dad took it and 1 women was there who just bought a gun and never shot a gun in her life. They helped her throught the range part and she got her CHL. I never heard of anyone failing, still I would like to practice a bit.

I hear you. I actually got mine before the CM9 was released, but the CM9 is a very affordable piece. Kahr had to do something to get into that price range and compete with like guns.

I still love my PF9 the most though.

Adjusting the extractor on a 1911 is basically bending it. The only time any filing needs to be done is if the claw won't contact properly. Your ejection should be between 12:30-1:30, with over 90% of your brass ejected between 12:30 and 1:00. The ejection on "high port" 1911s is supposed to go up.

Irregular ejection and inconsistent ejection can be caused by a lot of different things like the lubricants you use, the tension of both the mainspring and recoil spring, ejector, ammo, grip, etc.

....shit! I knew how to describe what a case or snap cap would do with the extraxtor adjusted and it went right out my head.

Google it and also your ejector...

Was any of the ammo the hit you in the face +p?

I am still carrying (and loving) my DB9, but I am looking for a larger 9mm to carry also. I have a Glock, but I want something with a decocker or external hammer. The two at the top of my list are the MR Eagle MR9 and the FN FNP-9. The MR9 is based on the Walther p99, and although striker fired, it has a decocker button. And the FNP has a Browning da/sa action with decocker.

Anyone have any experiences with either?

If I had to carry a gun that fit that bill, it would be a Sig P239 or an HK P2000SK.

Could be too much tension on the extractor or the ejector isn't right.

... Google john Travis 1911 tuner. His stuff is good stuff.

I went and looked at guns again today; hopefully my Sig P250 will be here by the end of the week. I am going with the 9mm compact version. They just didnt have it in stock, but it should be there soon. It is DAO, but I really liked it. And I like that it is modular, so it can be converted to other calibers and you can swap out the frame. Extra frames are $45. I will probably buy the subcompact frame for it.
