Alarm System!

So I'm going to get a viper alarm system... and when I go to add in an interface module....I get this.

We currently do not have an interface module available for your vehicle, or your vehicle may not need an interface module. Please check with your installer at time of install to see if one is needed. Click the Continue button below to procede.

Does my car (02 GT) need an interface module or does it already have one...?

Yes, it needs a bypass for your viper system to work with your PATS system. Post this in the electronics section instead...

I have a Python 990. With glass breakage sensor, tilt sensor, proximity sensor, and the bypass module. Best buy sells viper, Circuit City sells python. they are the same brand, both made by Directed Electronics. And best buy (if you go viper) does have the bypass module and other accessories for it.

Sounds good. thanks a bunch...I'd rather just buy it from a best buy locally than order it, the website is annoying and doesn't have the module lol. thanks!

No problem man. And when you get it at best buy the purchase price should include installation and warrenty and all that. Good luck and let us know how it turns out!

good luck with the install if you get it at best buy.

it took them an hour just to remove my old jvc deck and tell me it would cost extra for wiring adapters to put in a new jvc deck. took it home(having never done any stereo work) and had my new one in in less then 10 minutes. no wiring necessary (same connectors, hence same brand)

but that could just be the best buy near me. the one you go to could have people who know what the hell they are doing.

+1 on the Python 990, Lefty. great alarm.

and mxnate116, not all head units of the same brand have the same wiring harness. but, i will agree that most of the time, the guys at a "chain" store like best buy or "jerk-it" city aren't the most knowledgeable installers. i've met a few who knew their shit. but not too many.

Yeah, i got mine through one of my "sources" lol, I got the python 990 system brand spankin' new very cheap. I then had it custom installed at a custom car shop near me. That's where i bought all my add ons and stuff. But agreed, circuitcity and best buy aren't the sharpest tools in the shed. i usually like to listen to them try to bs me and then i like to prove them wrong and walk away

yeah i was speaking generally. i know there are the select few who know what they are doing.

but the guy i had sure didnt.

oh and i know not all head units are the same but it should not have taken him an hour just to remove it and say he couldnt do it.
