HID help
I have been having a lil trouble with my new HID kit. I installed them the way the instructions said but im having two problems with them. 1) my brights and dims are reversed and 2) when i first turn them on they take a good 30 seconds to get bright. I was wondering if anyone else had this problem when they first installed them.

HIDs take a while to reach full brightness. 30 seconds seems a bit long, however your time sense could be off a bit. The technology behind HIDs simply causes them to take a few secs to reach full brightness compared to halogens being nearly instant.

Thanks for the info. I bought the kit off of Mrbodykit.com I think the brand was onex or something similar. I was thinking the same thing about switching the wires on the blue connector I just didnt know for sure if it was that or something I got wrong.
As for the lighting, I just timed it and it took 35 seconds to get to a good brightness. When I first turn them on it flashes bright then dims and slowly brightens up. I didnt know if maybe the power wire wasnt secured well enough and I am getting a better positive post to see if that will help any. Thanks for the help. |

NP, tell me.. how cold is it where you live? The temp could have an effect on the bulbs reaching full brightness.
Reps always appreciated for help

You're blue adapter plug should have 3 wires on it arranged horizontally (1-2-3) Switch the outside two (3-2-1) those are your hi and lo beams. The center one (2) is your ground. I have the same problem with mine (vvme.com) but I just haven't gotten around to switching the wires yet. And as stated before, the lights do take time. 30 seconds seems a lil long but then again my mental stopwatch could be off haha. Just check the wiring for tightness and good connection...theres not much else to do.

I hated vvme's kit. Gave me problems from the start. I since have gotten a kit of AM and it is much better. Get what you pay for.

Cool, I was looking at doing it I just hadnt had the time to look and see which wires were which. The time doesnt really bother me I just wanted to make sure it wasnt something I messed up. I am going back and reworking the wires just to make sure everything has a good ground and good power.

A how to is always a good idea. Plus this is a common question so go for it

I have the single beam from HIDGUY for the headlights and fogs, and by far I haven't ever needed the brights. I have the 6000k diamond white kit for both and it is just crazy bright. And they are white, not blue.
The dual beam kit from the same place has the same issue. Just switch the wires. And if you want to know if we want a write up? HELL YEAH!!!!

Cool I will get to making it then.
![]() I wish my lights were that bright! Mine have more of a blue tint to them, that and I have tinted headlights so they are as bright as they would be if I had my stock ones in.

i never had a problem with VVME kits, i have installed them on many different cars including my own and my buddys SRT8 charger. as for the HIDs taking a while to get bright, it has to do with the gasses inside the bulbs, HID bulbs are rated in Kelvin (8000k, 6000k ect) witch is a scale of temp, so depending on what temp the bulb is, it effects the "Color" output. but these gases inside the bulb need to warm up and get to the desired temp. this process takes a few seconds to achieve, as for it taking 30 seconds, that seems pretty long, but sometimes with a set of new HIDs, the bulbs will take a little longer than expected to fully charge, or reach that desired temp.
