push start

thinking about gettin one of these...now most of these kits like the one im looking at the key has to be in the on position to be able to use the push start which pretty much makes it stupid as fuk..well what im asking is how hard will it be to change it to where i dont need the key in the ignition at all to start the car? and if you can do that then can you make some kind of toggle switch on it to where you DO have to have the key in to start it as well...so someone cant just run in the car and push the button and start it...

i have seen the StarDrive - Push Button Ignition System
kits but i emailed em and the kit is around $400...does anyone know if i can take the regular key-needed push start and make it work completely without the key and completely and solely with the key?

you can but i wouldnt recommend it. first it makes it really easy for someone to steal the car, and two you're gonna have to figure out how to bypass the PATS system

exactly... it is cool but will take alot of work in order to do it. you can get a tuner to disable pats but then what is the point? at that time you might as well just invest into a remote start/alarm system. you can make your own put then you will have to by a bypass module to interface with PATS, pay for the unit, and have someone program it for you. will cost you anywhere from 50-150. then you have to pretty much do a little bit of rewiring with some relays among other things. At this point it might just be cheaper either just getting that unit and turning PATS off or just get a Remote start/alarm system.

i have a push start on mine. you have to have the key in there. its easy to do. just tap a wire onto the starter wire under the steering wheel. then one to the power. hook to a push botton and its all you need. you can get all sorts of buttoms that make it cool. i was looking into doing a system that uses like a FOB that can tell when its in the car. it would be on your keychain. and then you would flip a toggle and press the botton and it would all work without a key. and without the FOB being in there it wouldnt work. but it was just too much work to do. girls love the botton though.. they get in and i put the key in and tell them.. hey.. press that botton. and they all get scared to do it. then when they see what it does its like instant orgasm for them for some reason.. lol.. dumb bitches.. hehehe
