Is there anyway to fit a MTX T8512-44 12" into an 02 Mustang Gt?
I have a new MTX T8500 12" sub and I took it up to a stereo shop up here. A man told me that there was no way to fit the subwoofer into the trunk without ripping out the back seat. Is there anyway I could get it to fit without having a smaller box made and taking out my backseat? Thanks for the help!

you will have to have a custom box built for the trunk.
or you can find a car specific one on ebay but as for taking out the back seat? i dont see why you would have to do that at all. |

I found this Q-Logic box at Best Buy that managed to fit if it sat with the subs firing up. But I still had to take a hammer to the metal frame around the backseat to get it it.

alright, let me clarify this....
If you have a 12" sub it may or may not fit. It all depends on the enlosure you are using. It depends on the dimensions If it is a store baught box chances are it "MAY" not fit If it is a ported box, it "MAY" not fit What is the deciding point on if it will fit in your vehicle or not is the opening of the new edge trunks will not allow you fit a large box in through it... you may have to finess it in there... if you are thinking about going in through the trunk make sure that the height is gonna match up with the height of opening of the trunk access with or without the 460. When purchasing your box inside you will find a sheet that should list the recommended internal volume required for the sub to work at peek effeciency. make sure that the box that you purchase is within +/- 5% of what the recommended internal volume is or you run the risk of suffocating the sub or having too much internal volume. Either way your sub will sound like shit. This rule also applies to whether the enclosure you want is to be sealed or ported. If you are going to purchase a box go ahead and do the measurements of your car so that you can be certain that it fits as to save yourself headache and multiple trips. If you feel so inclined as to remove your backseats, pound some metal away, or what have you to make the sub fit then by all means feel free (I wont do that to my car )All in all, if you are asking if a 12" sub will fit into your car the consensus (along with many audio shops) will be no. As it is a pain in the ass and if you take it to a shop they may end up charging you more just for the extra work. This concludes your local service announcement

also kinda going off what wraither said, you could take your car to an audio shop and just try out all the prefabs they have in the joint and see if they fit. im sure the shop wont be opposed to it.
or god forbid you could try a best buy, but they would probably find some way to charge you to test fit the boxes |

yeah, forgot about that one. be aware though that some shops might not let you do it unless they are certain that you will buy something from them

Some say facing back is better, but i liked the sound with them facing forward. When you drop the seats they would "kick" a bit harder for kick drum sounds, and i couldn't tell much difference on the "boomy" bass. With the seats up i couldn't tell a difference.

Alright do they move when you're driving? cuz mines are always moving but i"m leaving it like i just putted a peace of wood on the bottom of the carpet. I'm gonna leave it like that that way I will be able to see and work on my amps really easy by just fliping the seat...

Those are weak ass W0s from back when i was 16. I ran 2 off 300w rms bridged. I want to do a 12W7 sometime in the future. The amp took a shit a while back so i took them out.

facing back will generally sound better. to get the best sound with them facing forward you would likely need to seal off the subs from the trunk completely. but thats making the best from a bad situation i suppose.
but...its also what sounds good to YOU so i guess each person would have to decide what they like Aiming Part 2 and Subwoofer placement - SSA Forums: |

Well I don't want to rip out my backseat unless I really have to and I'm tryin to find a way around this at first.
And also, I was trying to get a custom box built, but he told me that it would fit, but the problem is getting it in the car. He said he can't get the box to fit whether it's sealed or ported and told me I should sell it and get me a 10". I use to have the same exact sub which I purchased from someone else which had a smaller box then recommended for the sub, but the problem with that sub was that the cone was busted. It still hit hard, but it sounded like shit with the trunk open. I still have my mach speakers in the car, but am planning to get them removed and replaced with speakers that don't hang down so I'd have more space, but I still don't think I could get my subwoofer to fit into the car by putting the backseat down. I'm going to gonna go around and see if there's some place which can build me a box to get it to fit inside and still be the right size. Thanks for the help though guys! |

IF you don't mind waiting, but one time I measured my box but I don't know where I leaved the paper. But I think one from ebay will fit I remember that most of them had the same measurement as mine...
