Pioneer AVH P3200 and 4200 - Is the Bigger Screen Worth It?
I have been anticipating the release of these Headunits ever since I heard that they were going to be demoed at CES. I had pretty much figured out that I would buy the smaller 5.8 inch screen as opposed to the 7 inch screen, but now I am finding myself having second thoughts. I was wondering if anyone had an opinion on which one would be more useful/practical/better? Also if anyone has or has had the AVH p3100 I was wondering if you regret not getting the bigger screen? Thanks in advance.

Well let me ask you this...do you want the bigger screen for movies? Or just because "bigger is better". I have the 4000, which has a tad bigger smaller screen than the 41/4200, but larger than the 31/3200. I'm not watching movies while I'm driving or anything so I don't really care. The screen is definitely big enough for comfortable "functionality".

you wont notice the difference at all after awhile. and its not like someone's gonna get in your car and say, "why did you get the smaller screen over the larger one?"... well, I might

You know now that I think of it, I think I might be just wanting to go with the bigger screen because it is perceived as better. I may watch movies on it on occasion, but my main reason for upgrading is for iPod support.

If thats the case then just get the smaller one. like i said, you will not be able to tell the difference.

Thanks for all your insight. Now that I'm pretty sure I want to go with the smaller one, what do you guys think of the bluetooth feature? It will definitely be cheaper if I get the one already outfitted with the BT than upgrading it later, how has your experiences with the BT worked out?

Another thing I forgot to mention in my original post is the screen tilt feature of the 4200. Is this a reason enough to go for the larger model, or is it not all that necessary? Thanks again.

Eh, I wouldn't really think so, especially if you're not really going to be watching a lot of movies. It's nice for it to tilt...especially with it sitting as low as they do in Mustangs if you're going to be looking at the screen constantly, but as for driving/iPod use, I wouldn't really see it as necessary.

Thanks for all your help guys. I plan to order it from crutchfield today. When I get it all installed I'll be sure to put up a picture if anyone is curious about how it looks.

Wait...
Which one are you ordering? You can get it a lot cheaper from other places. I got my 4100 on ebay for like $115 less. Onlinecarstereo.com also has them way cheaper. You'll most likely have to get the harness and stuff seperate, but it shouldn't be but like $20 or so. |

Yeah, I know I could get it a little cheaper elsewhere, but I've heard some bad stuff about Onlinecarstereo.com. Also I kinda wanted to get if from a Pioneer authorized reseller, just in case. Oh and I'm getting the AVH P3200DVD to answer your question.

hey X, have you fixed that popping issue yet? Just curious as I posted up a sticky of how to do it and it has worked for the other 2.

Not yet. I actually just saw the sticky today, and responded to it.
I have Friday off, so I'll probably pick up the regulator and do it up on Thursday evening or Friday afternoon. I'll let you know how it goes. |

Has anyone picked up the 4200 yet? I'm still undecided, but I want a new unit for spring.

Ok, so I got the AVH P3200 and got it installed. It was actually easier than I first expected. I really like the headunit, but the only problem I'm having is the transition from the equalizer on the mach to the more advanced one on the pioneer. I'm still trying to find a setting that fits my liking. In case anyone was wondering how it looks, I took a few pictures.

Streetlight...I'm curious other than the hard buttons on the side, is there a way to change songs? (like a swip or a touchpad, like on the previous model?)
looks nice to.
