Those work!!

Remember the oil filters that you stuffed a roll of toilet paper in (maybe they still sell them?)!! We used one of those without the roll just to bypass the filer in a "problem" car we had. We ran it another 47,000 miles!!! (still with oil changes and a big magnet in the pan to collect the metal chunks) Right up there with the anti foul spark plug adapters!

I am new here but I have been messing with cars longer than most here have been living. I got a Mustang (the only practical car to own) after my attempts to nurse along my old Crown Vic finally went awry:

http://extreme-fire.com/CarTrouble/10-963%20001s.jpg

I am a retired high voltage, high power, and even an audio electrical engineer from long ago. But is hard to help with many of the problems here since the "devil is in the details" of each problem. But a blinker circuit should be doable as a first try

This site has already help me track down a few problems in my new car so I need to help and give back too! I never used to pay more than 10 cents a pound for a car so I know how to keep the old ones running to the very end. Now that I am older and richer I like the newer ones with the computers a LOT!! I actually understand them very well since I grew up with them.

We will have fun!!

No worries about the jokes. I have been moderating forums since many have been living too here on the net. But I really did retire far away from that now. No more list servers running off car batteries now!! I let the new kids do all that stuff now. I just "ride" the forums now!!!

It was 22 years old and had been driven very well... The old torque converter split open and sprayed tranny fluid late that winter night and she burned all up.

http://extreme-fire.com/CarTrouble/10-963%20017.jpg

So I got me one of these now:

http://extreme-fire.com/CarTrouble/NextCar-s.JPG

I am a computer guy from the mid 70's so all this is just the way it should be!!! There is nothing on the car I can't fix or don't understand! From pulling the transmission to hooking the digital scope the the MAF sensor. I got the electronics covered an my old mechanical skills to get rid of the metal between the silicon! I have rebuilt like 20 carbs only to find new cars no longer have them now ;D

I am playing with the Toyota problem too (it's the computer) but have not had time to collect the parts....

Only Ford makes good cars!! I have driven the old Cadillac 500CIDs and HT4100s to the grave there. Great ride to the junk yard... I have had for trucks too Even I could not kill them!!!

And so it goes... But we are getting off topic...

So lets see if I can help this fellow get his lights fixed as a first try

Hell then you can come help me out with my Jeep. lol. The electronics should be easy enough for ya.
I just lost everything but my temp gauge. The voltage works sometimes if I tap it hard enough. lol

I don't remember Jeeps in less that 2 feet submerged in mud after a lot of Schnapps...

But I think they have fusable links around the starter terminal area. Fuse links were a mess. they knock out everything electrical in mass (like the dash instruments) when they go bad. Oddly some ground based instruments continue to work somewhat.

Of course, check fuses and all... But massive instrument electrical failure in a Jeep is a
fuse link wire problem near the starter...

Let me know if that was correct in your case?

I am not worried about it.
As long as I keep an ideal mid about how much gas I have then I am good. It it overheats and the motor pops then I will just upgrade.

Here it is now:

Looks like nothing, but it has over 8k in it.
Used to look like this..

Sweet!!!

Looks fine!!

Don't ram it into a tree like we did with ours

Carry extra gas (safely) since they use a lot of it when they are stuck bad.

You really don't need instruments there anyway. If it is running and not burning, it's fine Don't be like my brother who worked on his beerfore a major camping trip and forgot to put the lug nuts on back right We drove it home (slow) with 13 remaining nuts (most off the spare tire)...

The problem with jeeps is that they had trouble carrying the large beer cooler But you have torn the back seats out to make room!!! It's good!!!
