Left Blinker?
I'm assuming this is the right spot.
My left blinker when turned on flashes very rapidly as if a bulb is blown. All bulbs are working. The right one is fine as well. What could be causing this? I was thinking maybe a relay? |

Honestly, it may not be just the blinker bulb. If ANY light on that side goes out that will happen. Could be a back up,brake, blinker, whatever.

the flasher is located on the back of the fuse panel... It is a quick and ez swap... If you have the wrong kind of bulb it will also flash fasat... The backup bulb has nothing to do with the flash rate of the turn signals... check the front bulb, the dash bulb, and the rear bulbs... a heavy duty bulb will make it flash faster... Here check this out..
TROUBLESHOOTING BASIC TURN SIGNAL AND FLASHER PROBLEMS Hope it was helpful.. reps if it is... Thx!

Maybe you guys can help me with a similar problem. 2000 base V6. My blinkers on the right work fine with no speed problem, however my left blinker only blinks rapidly in the back and not at all in the front.

Your front bulb is burned out. Replace it.

No offence, but I have good common sense and that was the first thing I checked. I've since replaced the headlights all together and still experience the problem.

It's probably the socket or cut wire then, given the age of the car...did you try a second bulb when you replaced it? I've had bulbs that either didn't work or blew out immediately after installed on my beater.
EDIT: After rereading your post...what did replacing the headlights have to do with your front blinker?

Hi,
I think your car is young enough to still have thermal blinker switches. The higher the current, the faster they blink. First, check ALL of the light bulbs to be sure they are the correct parts. Realize the the slow blinkers might be the problem and the fast ones are correct. So check all of them all over the car. Then you have to get out a current meter and test the current in the right and left blinker circuits and hope to find a friend with a similar car to know what reading is right (or how fast their's blinks). Unfortunately, you might have a short in the blinker wiring and God only knows how to track that down. If your car has ever had trailer light wires attached, start there!! There is no such thing as "blinker fluid" they are jerking your chain there ![]() When you pull out the bulbs, look into the sockets for any sign of corrosion or burning too. Hope this helps... ![]() There are many good electrical contact cleaners and "lubricants". Since automotive lives in the 12V world, many contact lubricants used in say the 120VAC electrical world will not work well. Just cleaning with Purell (Yes, that swine flue hand cleaner (jellied alcohol)) will do wonders. Any pure light silicon oil will be fine if rubbed on and rubbed off to leave a very thin film will do great too to prevent water and dirt from messing with the contact. Don't use WD-40 or anything stupid there. The mechanics of the socket do 95% of the work anyway to make the contact. If it is all bad, replace the whole socket. BTW - I am reminded that a poor contact causing high resistance is more likely than a short. So look very hard at the "slow" blinking circuit!! A high resistance causing slow blinking is more common than an oddly fast blinking circuit. Gandolf |
