im ordering some stuff from sonikelectronix or whatever.. I am getting 2 pioneer 12in subs 1200 watt max each.. then thinking about getting a 2 channel 2000 watt max amp.. then a enclosure for both subs... also a amp wiring kit. this isnt final but I was wondering if this is all I would need.. also how do I mount the subs in the box.. do they screw in or do I glue lol.. Im new to the whole audio scene.. also any suggestion for amps or subs or anything.. this is all looking at about 340 I think... any suggestions are appreciated lol

just wondering but what is the rms on the amp and the speakers?
they speakers hae holes around the lip that drill into the box. getting 12s in that trunk is going to be difficult without a custom box. |

Could the 12 mount up to where the factory speakers are? So a box is going to be tough to fit in there?

I know you're trying to save money, but these would be much better speakers.

Alright quick rundown, those subs are they 1200 max? That is not what you are looking for CEA just has companies put that so that people know what the max is a second b4 they blow. What you are looking for is what the RMS is at 2 ohms and 4 ohms and the same thing with the amp. Those TYPE R's are 500 watts Rms CONTINIOUS which means that the optimum power of those speakers (to get good bass) is 500 watts RMS. So on that note you will have to get an amp that is at least 500 watts RMS so that you could get the best sound out of them. Those subs are also DUAL 4 OHM subs which means that there are 2 ways to wire them up.
You can either wire them up in SERIES or PARALLEL. Wiring it up in series will bring it from 4 ohms up to 8 ohms and wiring it up in parallel will bring it down to 2 ohms (on just one sub). THe difference in ohms is tha mount of power that the subs are recieving. THe more power the more bass. THe way that you are going to wire them up is going to be in series since you are using 2 subs and it will bring both of your subs to 4 ohms which in return on a MONO amp that is bridgeable you can bridge it down to 2 ohms. As far as mounting the subs the best way to do it is center the sub in the hole and the using a drill drill the screws at an angle screwing to the outside of the box. So just do your research and take your time to build your nice system and if you got any questions just let me know.

The Type R's can take 700-800 RMS Daily. However, for someone new to car audio I wouldn't do that. Also, keep in mind most amps won't put out any where near their RMS for 80% of people simply because no one possesses that kind of electrical system.
If you get two Dual Voice Coil subs that run at 4 ohms you DO NOT want to put them on an amp that runs 2 ohms bridged. You'd be better off getting an amp that does 4 ohm bridged (in this case). |

RMS Power (4 ohms) 200 watts x 2 chan.
RMS Power (2 ohms) 300 watts x 2 chan. that is not a good amp, do you see what you are working with now, go with something name brand and if you go with the r's at least 500 watts rms @ 4 would be good.

I'm running two Alpine type-X ten's in my ride, and to get the box in the car without cutting or bending any metal on the car, we had to cut the box in two, put both pieces in the car, and then join the pieces while they were in the car. lol. I'm sure you can get a small enough box that will go in the car, but you have to make sure the box has enough volume (internal size) or the sound will be all wrong.
