JL Audio is NOT the best. Anyone who's been around car audio competitions and the like will tell you otherwise. JL is also one of the MOST EXPENSIVE brands. I admit they have some sick amps, but they are VERY pricey. As for sound quality, there is better... and it's cheaper.

What kind of electrical does your "boy" have? No one with a stock or near stock electrical system is going to run two JL1000.1's. Probably not even two 500.1's. So there's no point mentioning this stuff to the guy.

I already offered to recommend some equipment to Youngin, nothing JL offers in a similar size or quantity is going to compete, and damn sure not going to compete while staying in the same price range.

i guess you missed the part about imo....???...I stated that I beleive that they make great quality car stereo equip..and I also think that they are the best ....."IMO".....sure there are better out there and everyone can have thier own opinion!!!!this is AMERICA or am I wrong!!!!! As for you telling this guy about Alpine- you forgot to mention that their amps run much hotter than any other!!! the need proper ventilation so don't install one under your seats....also I have 2-10w6 with 2 500/1 in both my stangs along with mbquarts in one and polk in the other...both have custom made boxes.....oh and "MY BOY" with the trailblazer has 4 12w7 but he does have 2 el cheapo amps but he only enters db contests but he does push 153db......as for "MY other boys most have high quality pro. installed systems with different brand equip.and plenty of awards .did i forget to mention that several of them are car mechanics as well as "myself " and as for electrical upgrade no problem!!!! oh and great friends at Sound Advice also does wonders especialy when one is the Manager for car audio and several others are professional installers!!!!! later

The thing about audio is that it is largely subjective, as we all hear differently. Some of us hear highs more than others, while some enjoy throbbing bass while others do not. So what is really the best equipment in one mans opinion may not be so good in anothers.
Any top notch name brand equipment these days is going to perform quite well if set up properly, it's just a matter of finding the right sound you personally enjoy.

+1, and ill tell ya what; best buy, circuit city, whatever place you decide that you want to go to all the installers are the same, what sets us upart is our workmanship, yeah you have people that work for these companies or even custom shops that are just there to make a living, while some of us enjoy what we do at work and treat every car like it is our own. I on one hand make sure that everything that I do to a customers car is something that I would want someone else to do on mine, that is just me and some other people that work with me are the same way. I have people coming to me from custom shops saying that they heard through word of mouth that me and my guys take care of customers and there cars. Yeah, we may not do custom enclosures at the job, or even sell top end equipment. The way I see it is if you are gonna get anyhthing installed go to the competitions and ask around and see where people got there systems installed and what they thought. So, b4 you sit there and say that the installers at best buy suck make sure that none of us here on the forum work there for a living. Thats like me telling you that whatever you are doing for a living, no matter what it is, you just aint worth a shit. I aint mad cause I know alot of installers at our company and others aint shit, just dont single us out.

I don't remember recommending anything to Youngin. Infact, I know I didn't. So how could I of recommended Alpine Amps. I would never do that, Alpine makes shitty amps. Plus, I wasn't talking opinions. I was talking proven numbers. "In my opinion" was never part of my post. I gave hard facts.

Anyways, yes audio is subjective to the person. Everyone enjoys something different and hear differently. I prefer clear music with bass on tap, not bass all the time. I tend to listen to a lot of different music so having a well balanced system is more important to me than just ground-pounding bass.

If I wanted ground-pounding bass I would just get a truck and build the bed into a box with a blow-through to the cabin. Kind of like this Video 1 and this Video 2.

Quick Edit: I don't know if the best buy/circuit city installer thing was directed at me, but I'll comment. I have nothing against the installers, only the equipment. I've never had anything installed by them, so I can't comment on their performance. However, I'm not stupid. Like you said, a lot of them are just there for the easy pay check. I give props to those who actually take pride in the job.

first off i would like to appoligize to wraitherlx...i should have mentioned that when i said that best buy and circit city sucks i was talking about the brands and certain installers, IN MY neck of the woods, that i have seen their work and also had to repair their work..some of these people can't tell the differ. between single voice coils or dual...!!.they are just out for a pay check and that is true i guess about anywhere you work at ..(even at my dealership)...
back in the day these places would just hire anyone..so once again SORRY for me including all installers at these places.....i know that there are some good ones out there that take pride in what they do..later
