they are usually mounted under the dash. check under the divers side or behind the glove box. thats were they are suppost to be to make it harder to disconnect it incase they try to cut the wire when they break in the car. most of them are blacl boxes and have up to 4 wire harness' connected to them. you could just ask the guy you bought it from were its at.

if i was you though i would just change the whole alarm. i have heard and seen too many people who have bought more remotes cause the previous owner "lost them". then you wake up and come out and your car has been valet to the nearest chop shop.................

just follow the wires. that is what we do at my job, they dont necessarily have to be mounted behind the glove box but it should be underneath the dash.

You could just print out a picture of yourself with a pistol grip 12 gauge and tape it to the steering wheel at night, in case the previous owner has any ideas.

there should be a model number on the front or the back of the unit.

imo find a good alarm store (do your research) and have they remove the old alarm system and install a new system....if the old owner tapped any wires into the wrong place then your could have headaches for a long time...at my job i have co-workers that have spent days tracing wires that some dumb-ass did not install properly...the owner of the vehicals have paid an arm and a leg to have these problems fixed...i could tell you stories for dayssssss on such problems...... one dumb ass tapped into the main computer (PCM) on a brand new 2006 Suburban...oh..and it was not covered under warrenty... after market product!!!!!!!!.....for $150-$300 you could get a good alarm installed...imo find a Tweeter car stereo store or a Sound Advice as they are called down here....good luck.... later
