Mach 460 trash or keep?

i'm selling all of my '67 cougars and one of them had a stereo in it that i might want to use in my mustang.

right now i'm running the mach 460 with a 12 inch infinity sub.

the stereo out of my cougar is a JVC KD-SH55. it has 3 different RCA outputs, (line out rear, line out front, and ext out). its a pretty nice deck, my brother bought it new about 4 years ago and it was one of the nicer ones.

the speakers i took out of the cougar are Kenwood 6x9's 170 watts, which as far as i know are really good speakers. they are 4 ohms too by the way.

ok now for my questions:

if i was to replace the stock 6x9's with the kenwoods, would i connect them to the stock amps that are in the car? or would it screw them/the amps up? would they sound better than the stock speakers?

i know the JVC deck is way better than the stock one, but if i put it in would i have to get rid of the amps and just run the speakers off the new deck?

the reason i want to do all this is because the stereo in the cougar sounded a shit-ton better then the one in my mustang. i can wire a system in with no problems when its just basic, but when i have to deal with all the factory amps and that stuff it gets confusing for me.

trash the 460, you have 6x8's all the way around. Go to any audio place and ask for a 70-5514 Ford premium amp harness (there will be a harness in that pack that has the power side and then a harness with 2 female ends to it) and speaker harness, take your deck and you will see that underneath (on the floorboard) there is an amp. On either the right side or the rear of the amp there is one plug going into it, unplug it. Take that harness you baught and plug it into it (i believe that it is the smaller end of the harness is what you will use but just check) cut it in half and wire that up directly to your H/U harness with the same colors. Now, for your rear speakers just take off that little foam cover over your seats (there should be 2 or 3 bolts holding it in place, once you that take off the upper rear carpet and you will notice that there are 6 bolts that are holding the amp rack in place, remove those bolts and disconnect all connecting wires. Now once you do that you will notice that you will have cut-outs for the speakers with the screw holes already drilled in and you will see the two harnesses that are going into each cut-out these are your speaker wires
plug the harness that you baught for your speakers and then just bolt your speakers down. Now, the only thing is that when you do this you will loose your tweeter cause once you bypass the system you will loose the crossovers for the tweeters but if you want to keep them when you get your harnesses ask for bass blockers and then wire those up on the positive side of each speaker and then make sure that when you do this that you wire up the tweeters to the door speaker and then you will be good to go.

total cost- $50.00-$60.00

I dont like my Mach Head Unit...

the rest is not all that bad to me...

Thus is why I bought the Metra Harness to let me use the Mach Stereo with my new Headunit...
