like you already posted answers will vary greatly. i don't like fosgate yet others do. i love cerwin vega speakers, 10 inch vega subs, hifonics amps, and pioneer decks as a combo myself.

for a grand you can pick up some hertz esk or even hsk165 front speakers, a couple 10-12 audioque sdc2.5 subs, grab some alpine mrp- series amps on craigslist for the front and sub stage, grab a 4gauge wire kit from walmart, and top it off with an alpine cda-117 Head unit

hertz esk165 front speakers-250
two audioue scd2.5 10's- 240
alpine mrp amps-roughly 150$ depending on the deals you can find
amp kit-30$
apline cda117 HU-275$ on ebay
grand total before tax/shipping-915$

thats not including any install charges if you dont do the install or the custom box you will need built for the subs

First you need to make a decision. You said you want quality loud sound. For $1000, you don't get quality sound and super loud sound. You're going to have to decide do you want more quality or more loud.

For $1000, you can build yourself a badass system. There's no set answer, so just read up on a bunch of reviews, go to car audio shops and listen to what they have set up in the store. Generally speaking, look into subs with a high RMS, peak doesn't mean a thing. D class amps, and get the right gauge wire depending on how much power will be going through it. The rule for sound systems usually is you get what you pay for. But, there are deals out there if you look hard enough.

High power doesn't mean crap. You need pay very close attention to sensitivity. I have a horn sub (single 12" sub) that's MUCH louder w/ 100Wrms than nearly all 1000W systems.

Keyword being "general". I was saying RMS is more important than peak.

Peak power doesn't mean shit and isn't actually measured by the companies. They take RMS power and multiply it by a constant depending on the type of device.

subs arent ment for playing sounds their ment for your lows.

any actual sound quality is going to come from your headunit and ur component speakers.

Personally my old stang had 2 front kicker tweeters, 2 5x7 kickers in the dr, 2 6 x 9 pioneers for the decks and 2 10" kicker l7s powered by a kicker zx 500.1it was under 1000$ and had a custom ported box built. Personaly the l7s i have are bomb. Pair them with any good door speakers with 150+ rms and run a 4 channel amp to them and ull be good.

1st off what are you looking for? SQ? SPL? You can have a good mix
I have been pretty heavy into systems for years and from what I have learned is that mainstream brands i.e. alpine, jl audio, kicker etc are good but lesser known brands like SSA, FI, Ascendant audio, CDT, etc will get you more for your money. Example

My buddy nick went crazy and bought a great system, he purchased 2 12 jl audio w7s w/ 2 jl 1000.1 amps and alpine type x components with a jl 300/4 amp and custom ported sub enclosures cost him near 4 grand!

My system was 2 12 SSA xcons also with custom enclosures w/ two sundown 1200s strapped and CDT coxials with custom kick panels. Now according to nick, me and all of our friends my system destroyed his! I mean it was pretty bad mine was much louder and actually sounded cleaner the only difference is I went with lesser known brands ( since I know from experience that I get better for my dollar) and I only paid 1,900. All in all it just depends what you want since ultimately its your ears..

For lesser known brands, Fi is the shit. My buddy competes and is huge into systems. When he got his new truck he just threw in one 12" Fi q or something close to that name, and i couldn't even swallow inside that truck. Shit pounded.

go to a store that demonstrates their systems and listen for yourself. We can throw brands at you all day long but in the end its not our ears that will be listening to them and its not our credit card that will be buying them.

^x2.. and if they don't carry the brands you'll want find someone who has them and take a listen but car audio is extremely installation dependent...try to find a store that demos systems that are inside actual cars not in a "sound room".

not sure if any audio stores have cadence. but it a good quality speaker. i personally like bostwick but they are no longer in business. as most have said. try a store that has the items in a car. everything sounds diffrent from a room to a vehicle. good luck!

exactly, the sound characteristics in a car are much different then in a "sound room". Hell, every car has different sound characteristics so best bet is to try and find someone local with a mustang that has a setup and listen to theirs.
