Mach 460 HELP!

Hi,
I just bought a 97 Mustang with the Mach 460 system. Can anyone tell me why I am only getting minimal sound from the 2 front window tweeters and 2 back tweeters? The head unit is fine, all fuses are fine, all 3 amps, 4 woofers and 4 tweeters are there, and everything is connected that I know of. This unit does not have the cd player unit and I read somewhere that it needs one to complete the connection. This car has the cassette player only with an enclosed "cubby hole" where a cd player could be installed, I guess, although it does not look like a cd player was ever there.
Any information would be much appreciated.

Mach 460 HELP!

It doesn't matter what I do with the tremble or bass, it's always a low sound coming out. Could it be the rear amps? I am not getting anything out of the 4 woofers.

If turning the amps off and on has no effect that is most likely where youre problem lies.

Mach 460 Help!

Just an update. I took the system to an audio installation place and they fixed the problem. Although my system did not have a cd player it still needed the wire harness to complete the circuit. Alls well now.
Thanks for all the input.

So my guess is your amps were fine you just weren't using the power from them. Hey saves you some cash!

Crank it up!!!

Pizon,
I registered here just because I came across your ? and I can help you out..I have recently replaced my factory units in my 95 cobra which of course has the Mach 460 in it also..All you need to do is get you a cd player to match the head unit and put it back like the original setup was.if the radio is not plugged into the cd player you will get sound but it will be LOW.Apparently whoever had the car before you replaced the head unit and when you do that you no longer need the cd player. When they went to sell the car they took there aftermarket unit out and put the oem unit back in but didnt replace the cdplayer back in insteed left the pocket in that goes under the radio.I know this becasue I turned on my radio once before plugging the cd player back in and could barely hear it but once I plugged cd player back up it worked fine.Get on ebay and search mustang cd player you can more then likely get one for $40 and up..Around $300 new from dealer I think let me know if this helped you..good luck

Do you know what they did at the audio shop to fix your problem. What did they do with the cd connection? I'm having a similar problem. tx

just as a note you guys the tweeters are power by the internal amp inside the head unit and the rear amps power the 6' x 8's ( or rear 6.5' in convertibles)

actually the back of the radio just needed jumpers where the optional CD player harness hooks up to. You did not need the harness itself.

hope they didn't charge you TOO much for it

Incorrect

the 4 tweeters are powered by a 4ch amp under the dash crossed over at 500hz and up
signals are split out to the rear 2 amps (1 mono for the fronts and 1 mono for the rears) at 500hz and below

I've redrawn all the schematics after having to rebuild a harness due to the previous owner cutting the stock one and shorted everything out.

fun fun

Sorry snake, but i would have to agree with ucannvrhav2mchpi
I did'nt have a front amp under the stock head unit and it still powered the tweeters and mids.
