Power Antenna

I just got a power antenna, like the kind that only comes up when the radio is on. I realize the answer to my question might be in the instructions but I want to try to ask here before opening it in case it's doesn't work out and I need to return it...I don't know if they'd take it back after it's been opened?

anyway, my question is this...does it extend when I'm playing a CD in my deck? I only want it to extend for when I'm actually listening to the radio, I want it down when I'm listening to a CD. Does it know wether i'm on radio or CD, or does it just work from wether or not there's power going to the deck in general?

Napa Auto Parts. No idea if you have those in the states....assuming that's where you are.

if you have an aftermarket radio it comes with a seperate wire for the power antenna (blue). The way that it works is that when you switch from CD to TUNER the H/U outputs a 12 volt signal to the power antenna wire and that what raises it. Once you go back to cd the power is cut from the power antenna wire thus retracting it.

nice...
I had the crazy idea of having it completely manually controlled. Like instead of hooking it to the head unit, I would get it wired to a toggle switch in the ash tray area, so that I could manually bring it up when I want, stop it at the desired height. bring it back down a bit if i think it looks too high...you know what i mean? so that it doesn't need to be fully extended every time it goes on.

yeah, you could do that if you dont want it fully retracted out that way it doesnt look so damn tall like our stock ones.
