do the 01 mustangs, it's a v6 if it matters, have a switch in the door for the courtesy light, or do they have a sensor like some of the newer cars?

i only ask this because my courtesy light isn't working right. i had to take the bulb out because it stayed on all the time...does anyone know how to fix this?

sounds like one of the door triggers that registers the door being closed is broken so it thinks the door is open all the time which keeps the light on. see if the little pin in either door has popped out or snapped off entirely.

Yea its quite obvious. look in your door jam where the hinges are and it will be on the door itself. there should be a pin that can be pushed in and will pop back out. this registers whether or not the door is closed.

there is no pin like that in our cars...maybe they are in the pre-99s but ours do not have those pins...my light stays on every now and then too, not sure why, it usually goes out eventually. if it doesnt i just take the battery cable off for a lil bit and then put it back on (resets everything) and it works fine again.

hmm didnt know that. i assumed it would be the same for 99+ as well. still it sounds like its an issue with the mechanism that determines whether the door is closed or not w/e that happens to be.
