I have a 2006 mustang v6.. a few months ago i had a kenwood headunit installed 2 ten inch subs in the trunk. Now im having electrical problems.. and the passenger window wont raise or lower.. the interior lights will flicker when you try to raise or lower the window and the windshield washer fluid will spray out. I brought it back to the place that installed it.. if anyone has any idea please help me out... thanks

Wow. I would love to find out where they took the power source from for this car. scr you may find yourself having to go to another audio installer, telling them what happened, asking them to diagnose it, and then going back to your original installer and having them fix it. It almost sounds like they didn't wire the amps directly to the battery, as should be done, but instead took a source out of the fuse panel somewhere. I also wonder if they grounded the amps properly.
I have 2200 watts of power in my car, with a 10 farad capacitor, and I have 0 electrical issues. I would definitely be pushing the warranty issue on the install. |

no they didnt install a capacitor .. they didnt suggest one. Supposedly the place where i installed it has been around for around 30 years. Im bringing it to a ford dealer tomorrow but im worried about warranty issues. The windshield washer fluid comes out even when the car is off and the keys are in my hand.. idk wut to do

i wouldn't even take it to ford first. A car dealership will always say it's the after market electronics installed in your car. Take it to where you had it installed and tell them to diagnose it for free. Any respectable install shop warranties their installs. Then if they can't fix it or they give you crap, take it to ford and let them diagnose it and if is definately due to the install, tell the original install shop they need to reimburse you for the cost of going to the dealer and for the repair of the issue.

I mostly agree with Eminem there, however you are stuck in a bad place. I hope all goes well for you at the dealer. I hate that shit where they see an aftermarket stereo system, and the minute you have electrical problems they blame the stereo. If you get lucky like me, your dealer is cool & actually knows your stereo installer, so I have never gotten that run around. My installer, on the other hand, lives in another town. We both at one time had pretty much the same Ford Focus. His was eating alternators, mine never went through one. He had put a fairly large system in my Focus, much more powerful than what was in his car. Go figure, every time he went in for an alternator in his town, they busted his balls about the 'system'. I never had a problem with the Focus, but I have over 2000 watts in the Stang, and it's been in for electrical issues, and never once have they given me a problem at my dealer.
I still think that, 30 years of experience or not, they have wired something WAY incorrectly, such as taking the main feed off of a fuse block or something, perhaps in conjunction with running the amp ground back to the battery. The amp should have it's own main feed, with it's own in-line fuse, coming right off the battery, and the ground should go not far from the amps, directly to the chassis of the car. Best of luck scr. |
