Very Low Bass on subs

Ok so I got 2 subs in my trunk (ya i know, tight fit). They are 10" Bazooka's, vented enclosure and a 300w amp. It's from my buddy and when they were in his car they were loud, you could hear them. I got them installed at circuit city and now i can barely notice them. The sound that I can get from them from messing with the controls is all like highs, i can hear the words of the song but not the bass. Anyone know why it's choosing to play my highs when it should just be bass? Supposedly the guy was supposed to splice into the rear speaker wires for the signal, maybe he picked wrong ones? idk anyone have this problem?

The crossover on the amp is probably set on high pass instead of low pass

Sounds like he went high level in to the amplifier. Is this a factory head unit? Was your buddy using a factory head unit, or an aftermarket head unit with separate sub level outputs? If you're running the factory head unit to the amp, you need to check the crossover network on the amp, as stated above. If the amp doesn't have any controls for this, you need to get one or more of the following:
A. A better head unit with sub level controls.
B. A crossover for the subs.
C. A better amp with more control.

I agree with Fogged, definantly set to HP instead of LP. If you can hear words from ur subs, its either that or the LP frequency is set to high. I set my LP at around 60hz as i have a 4 crossover system and my MId BAss speakers ( 8" RF's ) will reach55hz and not break a sweat. MOst systems should be set at or below 100hz depending on how strong the mids and highs are. CHeck the settings on ur amp. SHit, if Circuit City installed them, take it back and make them make things right. ITs their responsibility to make the customer happy isnt it? Also, if ur stereo is stock and it was a "Mach" or some type of premium stereo, the mids might have a factory x-over on it that is preventing the LOC from getting the lower frequencies. I doubt its that but its possible.
IM almost posotive that its the amplifier settings, check 'em and set 'em and jam bro! LPF ( or LP on some), set the x-over to 100hz or lower ( suite to ur tastes), and set the gain somewhere under half way up. TUrn the stereo 3/4 of the way up and roll the gain up till the speakers start to sound shityy and then roll it back down just a lil.
