Mach 460 Help

Hey guys, I'm new here and am looking for some information.

I have a 2000 GT with the Mach 460 system in it. (The head unit is an Alpine, but I don't think that really matters here.)

I was looking looking at my rear speakers today when I noticed something that I found a little strange. I removed the gril cover on one of the rear speakers and found that the "carpet" (not sure what to call it) is covering speakers. It almost looks like when they cut the hole for the speakers they didn't finish the cut and just left the material in place.

Now, I'm not an audio expert, but I would think this would retard the sound or adversely affect it somehow.

If anybody can give me some info on whether or not this should be like this I would appreciate it.

I will take some pictures tomorrow.

Thanks,
Brad

That looks like grille cloth to me. if thats the case, its "transparent" to sound. It is designed for the specific reason to hide speakers but still let all the sound pass through it. If you can take it out and look at it it will be super thin and almost see-thru. If thats the case, it wont affect your sound.
