Brake Sensor
I have a avic n3 and i have hooked it up to the emergency break, like it is suppose to.
SO when i want to search for an address or watch a movie i have to pull my emergency break. Id like to have my passenger to be able to watch or movie or search for an address. So is there some sort of sensor or something i can install so that it thinks my break is on? |

Underneath the MAIN unit (not the hideaway) is a small silver sticker, peel this back. There are two contacts with the label "R197". Drop a bit of solder between these to connect them. Also, you must ground the Parking Brake wire.

I thought on the N3's they put the switch back in... no? and don't you have to put the e-brake on a toggle switch?
Not familiar with the N3's cause we just stopped selling them. everyone wants the double dins now so I may be talking out of my ass. |

On the head unit (the actual radio with the screen that goes in your dash) there is a silver sticker (I think it is silver) that you need to peel back, and underneath it there will be an opening with either a switch in it or a spot where a switch should be but instead there will be just 2 solder points. You have to either flip the switch (if its there) or jump the solder points together.. anyway you have to do it, there needs to be contact between the two points.... if you have to solder, have fun! its a very small space and if you screw it up, it voids the warranty.

also if you want to, you can just hook up the e-brake wire to a toggle switch. Just put one side to the e-brake wire off the N-3 and the other side to ground. The software inside the unit will shut off any features that you arent supposed to have while driving after you are going more than 5 or 10 mph.. it uses the GPS signal to know when you are moving. Thats why you have to do what HMUSN and I described to do. That disables that feature and allows you to watch video and input destinations while driving.
