speaker setup
alright im upgrading my speakers and headunit
im not that big on subs but i might install a conservative powered sub in my car. Headunit- http://www.crutchfield.com/S-7DDuzZy...X500&s=0&cc=01 and i want two different speakers.- http://www.crutchfield.com/S-7DDuzZy...R57C&s=0&cc=01 and http://www.crutchfield.com/S-7DDuzZy...B571&s=0&cc=01 one set for the mids and one set for the highs The problem is where would t be more efficient placing the mids in the doors and then the highs in the other location or vice versa. and then hooking a powered sub to run to my headunit because its got a built in amp> im not looking to spend a fortune and im definately not looking to rewiring much more than a subwoofer. would this set up work? |

i'd but the mids in the doors and the highs in the rear.
the highs are directional, so you'll be able to hear them better when the sound reflects off the rear window. also, i just took a quick look at that reciever & i know it will NOT fit in my 2000 stang. make sure it will fit in yours. Crutchfield's site is awesome. Also call them if you need help. They're expensive but high quality & helpful |

hmm...interesting..
The way I was looking at it, I would put highs in the front because high pitched frequencies have smaller wave forms, they don't travel as far. mids have larger wave forms, they will move around in the car and around objects more easily than the highs, and so you will still hear them clearly even if they're in the back. Like when you have a sub in the trunk...very large wave forms, travels through/around your rear seat and trunk, you still hear it very clearly. try putting some highs in there....not so much. |

frequency isnt the size of a wave.
thats amplitude. and the reason for not putting the highs in the front is because they would be muffled below your feet. it would sound ok when you dont have a passenger, but as soon as you sit someone over there, the sound cant travel straight to your ear. |

sorry I should have said wavelength, not size...frequency = wavelength. but still the principal of diffraction still applies.
I guess I'm just not totally sure how well the rear window would reflect sound from the rear speakers towards the front. If you're really concerned about that, you'd have to get tweeters in that little area at the top of the door, just on the inside of the side mirrors. |

go with the type-r's ive got them in the back of my fox and they are amazing. but to get the best out of them you should have them hooked up to an amp.
and they arnt component speakers. so the mid drivers and tweeters are stuck together. for the front i would get some 6.5" type-r components so you can place the tweeter higher up and be able to hear it better. thats what i want for my fox i dont know if they are the same for a 03. and why would you want such a massive HU? if you want jvc go with theis one http://www.crutchfield.com/S-t8mLyOE...00&I=105KDG430

get a nice set of Components, put the woofer (not SUB-woofer... ) in the door, and the tweets in your factory pods on the upper part of the door. ditch the rear fill. think about a concert... is the band sitting in front of you or behind you? I never worry about rear fill, but then that is just me. others may differ. I just would rather spend my cash on a Great set of components for the front and a good clean amp to power them, and then add a sub or two in the trunk.
