New System
hey everyone i have a few questions reguarding a line out converter. i have a 94 gt with the mach 460, i replaced the head unit with a straight wireing harness (did not "bypass the factory amps") its a sony head unit with 1 set of rca on the back which i used to run to a powerbass amp with two 12" 's. i want to rip out everything and put a 4 channel amp in the back new door speakers tweeters everthing so my question is how do i get rca's to plug into the 4 channel amp. do i have to buy a line out converter which plugs into the speaker wires on the back of the head unit then un rcas to the line out converter?

Re: New System
It is only line level anyway. You get much cleaner sound by using line level. Any time you run through a amp, you amplify noise also. I read this again, and I am a bit confused? Are you saying that your new amp does not have rca plugs???? Line out convertors are used to take normal outputs, and convert them to line level. If you have RCA plugs on the head unit, and none on the Amp, and you really want to use that amp, you can just buy a RCA connector with loose wires on one end, and connect it to the amp. I think you need to claify your post a bit so I can help.

If your head unit (deck) has one set of RCA outs, I'd run a set back to the amp, and put a one female to two male Y adapter on the end and plug the male ends into your amp.

Ther are a few things that you can do to make this situation work:
1-Buy a passive Equalizer and split the RCA's before the EQ That way you can fade front to back and adjust sub level and you have the ability to control all frequencies instead of just bass and treble 2-You can use the RCA outs on your sub amp to run into a 4 channel amp(you'll need "y" adapters {2 male 1 female type} and a short RCA cable. 3-You can buy another head unit that has at least 2 RCA outputs I would go with the EQ becuase of the fact you can control your frequencies a WHOLE lot more and you can fade from front to back and control the subs independantly from the other speaker.Heres a link for a decent priced EQ and all you would need is 2 more long RCA cables and 2"Y" adapters{1 female to 2 male setup}http://discountave.net/icpertek5ban.html You need any help or wiring diagrams email me at hpjunkie302@netzero.net MECP certified 14years mobile audio/visual experience

Or you can "daisy chain" the amps. Most all amps have a "line out" that will let you run RCA's into oneamp and from the "line out" to another amp.One RCA will push quite a few amps pretty easy.
