Cold Air Intake System/Shaker System

I'm toying with the idea of adding one or the other and seeking your views.

It appears the tuner is required for the Cold Air system. What actually would I gain from adding that system? I live in town so speeding isn't going to be an available option. Is economy a factor?

And is the tuner useful more than once? Are they exclusive to My car or can one be rented or loaned? I'm having trouble justifying another $400 investment on a one time adjustment to a one time addon.

Am I missing something or is this mod something that I shouldn't be too intrigued with- even tho I am.

Further, I think the Shaker Hood Scoop system rocks. I'm tempted to put that on even tho I know there is no performance benefit. I'm not so much looking for that with this mod. If I don't do that I would like to find a cool "heat releasing" hood or functional hood scoop.

If you folks have a preference and a source for it please hit me up.

No opinion is too biased for me. Throw me what ya got, be it a plus or minus comment. If you think I should leave the hood area alone then tell me that too. I would appreciate all views and angles on this topic as it's a major change for the car.

Now on top of that....anyone still here? ... if you ALL tell me to leave it alone then I'd ask ... what about some stripes?

Honest opinions. I got a few bruises on the wheels so I can take it.

Thanks for your expert opinions and experiences.

The tuners are adjustable over time. You can receive new tunes for different modifications for an additional $15 usually.

Are there variables with tuners? This is another twist to the puzzle. I'll take a look at the SCT version. Beware I may have more questions.

As for the stripes. Let me put it this way. I got my way on the car, she got her way on the stripes. I wanted Cobra striping or similar. She wanted nothing to do with those type. She won her battle, I won the car. How would both look? After the fact I could probably whine them out of her.

So far it looks like CAI-2 Shaker-0

Thanks guys.

I posted something in another forum on this board about this topic (obviously before I saw this one). I had both a CAI and Shaker system installed and ran into a critical conflict. Apparently the Shaker causes a turbulence issue in the CAI and the tuned computer can't deal with it. Did you end up getting both? Did you have a similar issue?

As you maybe can tell from my sig pix I got the Shaker installed. I didn't go with any CAI system yet.

Thanks for asking and thanks for the information with having both installed.

Just an update here, (i posted it elsewhere also) the two work well together now following a tune with an SCT tuner for the Steeda CAI which Ford Racing uses.

I won't be doing any more modding until later on this summer. Car is in storage for the winter, right now.

Just an FYI. If you use a tuner on your system, your warrenty is null and void. I'd wait until your warrenty is up before putting up anything that will devoid you of your warrenty. The shaker system doesn't nullify it. I checked w/Ford before I installed mine. Always check before you upgrade your vehicle. Some exhaust systems nullify your warranty as well.

correct me if im wrong but i dont think that the computer tune will void the warranty because you can upload the factory tune at any time.

Well, considering the FRPP comes with a tuner...and it does not void the warranty..I would say it does not.

And, in my case, the Ford tuner didn't work so they got an SCT tuner and used it, then gave it to me..warranty still good.

I have been very careful to make sure anything I do to the car has the blessings of the dealership...can't afford to fix an engine not under warranty.

Your dealership may vary.
