Stupid Mach System

Let me start by saying the Mach system is a pain in my butt....first off my cd player is broken and i want to listen to my cds so i want to replace it

Ford Dealer:
A special audio guy has to come out to dealership and fix it/replace it running me about 600-700 in parts and labor and the mach 460 system doesnt even sound that good

Tweeter(Audio Store):
For a good system with a new headunit, speakers, amp, sub, and tweeters is 1700 in parts and labor(now my cousin maybe able to get me a discount...now do mind you this is a full loaded headunit with HD Ready, Satelite Radio, Bluetooth, Ipod Hookup, and all the normal radio stuff

I have been told by Ford, Circuit City, Best Buy, and Tweeter that I cant just replace the headunit unless done by a Ford Special Audio Tech.(what a job title) now Im a music person as many of us are but these are outragise prices for a simple cd player that I didnt even break the lady who had the car before me did

Has anyone else had this problem or does anyone have suggestions?

They just tell you that so you can pay them for fixing it. But in reality, you could probably get just a mustang wire harness, only the tweeters will work tho for the mach 460. At least you get something, right? And this can be with an aftermarket headunit.

There is also an RCA connector out there somewhere, I'll edit my post with the link to it so you can get your Mach 460 system working.

Edit: http://www.partsexpress.com/pe/pshow...TOKEN=96288697 I'm not sure if it'll work for an 02, but it might be the same thing, maybe like my 97 which only has tweeters right now and my amp went out for my sub

Go with that...You will be fine...Make sure you get a cd player with pre-outs...

With that adapter you dont have to run all new wire...Just attach the wires right and then plug the RCA Jacks into the adapter...Its not tough at all?

Well all you would really have to do is run 2 amps...

1 in the rear for the rear speakers...

1 to run the front speakers...

Run the RCA's and remote wire to th trunk (along with a power wire and such for the amp) and then that is all for the rear...Just wire the amps to the speakers...Take out the seats and run it down the channel...Its not hard at all just time consumeing...

Then for the front hide and amp under the passenger seat or somewhere like that...Run RCA's and a remote wire to that amp and then run the wire to the speakers...Just take the inner paneling of the door off and thread the wire through the factory door harness...And then bam you are all good...

You are done and have a all new wired stereo...

Hook the ground wire to a ground in the trunk. I used one of the screws by the rear lights covered by the carpet. And all my wiring is off to the side in those floor cover things, under the door when closed

Well if you go for the stock cd player, then there'll be no need for the wiring harness or anything, even though aftermarket headunits are cooler and you can run MP3 discs in them

But I haven't really seen the 02 cd players, they a lot different than compared to like the 97's? And if you get the stock cd player again, how do u know that it won't do the same thing again? If you have some McDonalds friends, just ask them to get a lot of the Best Buy bucks for you when the game comes around again and go to Best Buy and buy a good one (But you are still taxed).

Well the RCA connector goes for the 00's and the 01's so maybe for the 02's they did it? I still don't like all the seperate pieces in there, too much wiring in there, but just wondering, would it be possible to just make that RCA connector myself? Would it be fully functional or would one side of it not work?

Duh!It aint that hard man

New CD player that is a good name brand,Spool (50') of 16 gauge speaker wire, interface from ford stock plugs to pigtail(Wal Mart $20),and about 3 hours of your time.Maybe even a double DIN to single DIN adapter for opening in dash.Shit about$300 bucks and you'll be on the road.Use the pigtail adapter and wire the head unit up except for speaker leads(you have to run all new speaker wire to all your speakers then hook those new wires up directly to your new CD player). The only wires that you'll use from the stock set up are the 2 power wires(ignition and constant),1 ground wire, and the antenna. You want further details or help e-mail me at hpjunkie302@netzer.net
