Find an existing rubber grommet in the firewall. Poke a hole through it, ensuring you don't damage any other wires/plumbing.

Stick a coat hanger or fish through the hole. Tape your power wire to the coat hanger. Pull the wire through the rubber grommet.

Be careful when punching the hole through the grommet that you don't pop it out of the firewall, as they can be a bitch to get back in.

Sorry, I'm not familiar with the 96 cars. But you should be able to find a grommet that will fit 10 gauge through it. Sometimes the grommet is a bitch to get to, but it's the safest way to run the wire.

Check around your steering column, or if your experienced just drill a hole and put in a grommet, if your not your local stereo shop will prolly do it for you cheap.
