Access the rear of stock radio
I purchased an add on adapter for my XM roady 2. I'm fairly sure I can take care of the install IF one of you more knowledgable folks can tell me how to access the rear of the unit. 06 GT, factory 6 disc and Shaker 1000. Also, there is an "AUX." button on the face plate of the radio. Is there any RCA or other ports on the back for items such as the XM, iPod, MP3, etc.? Thank you for any advice or help.

There has got to be either RCA plugs or an interface on the back of the stereo if there is an "AUX" button on the front. Most likely you'll find it is an interface and you'll have to buy a interface adaptor that converts to RCA cables.I'll post a link after this post.Is there any "headphone"looking ports on the front of your head unit?
Hers the link that has the adaptor you need http://www.myradiostore.us/auxadapte...aux-input.html

Does it have small holes in both sides (2 on each, about maybe an inch and a half or so apart?)
If so, you'll need a set of Ford Radio Removal Tools. You can probably find them at Wal-Mart or a place who usually sell wire harnesses or dash kits. Here's a pic to get an idea.

nope, requires minor dash disassembly to get to. I'll try to post the r&r info from the shop manual tomorrow.

Most all ford factory or upgraded head units use those "U" hooks. You can use coat hangers if'n you bend them right!! You would have to gently pry the unit out with the coat hanger pushed full into all 4 holes at the same time.Worse case scenario, you'll prolly haffa pull the trim piece that surrounds the unit then unbolt 4 hex head bolts.Once you get the 4 bolts out you'll have this pain in the ass plastic piece that is bolted to the back of the unit that you damn near gotta break to get it out. But yeah send some pics of the unit and one with the trim around it pulled off if you can and i'll tell ya zactly howta get the bugger out bro.

Twist.
Thanks for any tech advice you can find and forward. The Ford dealer here is an ass if you don't buy from him, and I got mine at Sadler's back home. I wish it did have the old style 4 hole removal though, they were easy.
