Automatic windows & brakes causing diming lights

When I press up or down on my window's button my lights all around dim, and I can hear my engine lose some RPM's. This also happens when I touch my brakes. I can hear feedback in my subs when I hit the brakes as well.

I have replaced the battery with a Optima Yellow top that is about a year old. I have a 4guage ground from the battery to the chassi of the car... any ideas where I should start looking?

Mabey check all grounds... howerver I am fairly certin they are all good and tight. The sub's ground is tight as well... any ideas?

Get alternator checked, if no problem then just add a battery capacitor to your car

ahh crap... alright I will run by the parts store and have them check it... I had a prob with the alternator not having a good connection awhile back.

I lost the nut that goes on the bolt that holds the connector. So I got one that fit tight and put it on there.... oh well taxes are coming soon, might have to get a new one.

Thanks for the replys

Well, Autozone tested my alt and it was pumping out 13.8v at idle....

There was only about .5v drain when I hit the window motors. Im going to check the fuse to the motors tomorrow and check all my grounds in the engine compartment. Any other ideas I can try?

do you have a capacitor for your subs and amp? If you're running a decent sound system...this is a must have. This will keep your lights from flickering by providing constant voltage to your subs and amp. It will also save your alternator.

Eh, I dont like Caps... used them and they dont do that great. All they really do is use power from you car to charge another small battery in the cap. Which gets drained by using the subs, and just has to be recharged. Its basicly adding a small battery. The best way I found to elminate the dimming from subs:

Big 3 upgrade
4 guage from Alt to Battery, with atleast 100amp inline fuse
extra 4 guage ground from bat to chass
4 guage ground from alt to chass

This got rid of my dimming and drainging problems from my subs. The question is how my windows are casing this... I do NOT want this to run into a Capacitor debate. I apperciate you tryin to help, just dont like usin caps personally.

turn your subs and radio off. If you then hit your brakes or windows do they dim?

What you need to do is check the amps that the motor uses to pull the window down and up and from there do the math to check if anything is outta wack, a .5V drop for your windows is normal and by the way my car does the same thing. You have to consider that with your lights on it pulls more amps from your battery and with you using the windows at the same time you will see the voltage drop in the dash.

yeah i would go through and check all your grounds and connections.
it wouldnt hurt to grind down the paint on all the grounds.

good call on the big three upgrade btw.
