Mach 1000 install
ok so I bought a Mach 1000 audio system for my '98 Cobra. If you didn't know, they started making this system for the '03 stangs as a power upgrade. Since my car is a '98, I don't have the wiring already in my car to just hook it up so I went to Ford and they said you can't just buy the wiring so I went to a electronics store and they quoted me for $225 bucks to put it in!!! Screw that!!!
So I'm gonna try to put this in myself but I don't know anything about audio wiring...I have two connectors that I need to find out where to wire...one has 4 pins and the other has 6 so could anybody help me on where these 10 wires go to???

If your car has the Mach 460 system in it now, then you should have the wiring there. If you don't, I wouldn't even consider doing this. Too many headachs for a so-so sounding system.

Same thing Bullitt said, too much of a headach to put it in. I heard the mach 1000 before and wasnt impressed by it. You could have brought a nice amp and 1 10" woofer and got the better sound. The Mach 1000 system takes up the whole truck too.

I so would not have wasted your money. what all did you buy? and what is in the ca now? do you even have the 460 to upgrade to the 1000? if not I would not even try. You could have bought a halfway decent aftermarket HU, speakers amps and a 10" sub with out spending to much... and you would not have even an eith of the headaches you will trying to get the factory sstem in.
Just incase you DONT have the 460 in there.... the factory HU has three plugs in the back, one has power, switched power, ground, and the outputs for the front and rear tweeters. the next has three wires in it which power th 460 amps, (the front amp behind the radio controls the tweeters in front and rear, adn the two in the trunk power the front and rear 6X8's), and the third plug has the outputs for hte 6X8's front and rear. this system is a beast to try to hook up if the wires arent there. to many odd things to deal with. plus it is all an 8ohm system. Seriously I would drop it on Ebay and hope someone is trying to replace a couple failed components in their factory system, and buy some aftermarket stuff. |
