Charging Problem... Please Help!

I recently bought a 89 lx with the 2.3. While driving the battery went dead and killed the motor. I put in a new battery and an alternator and it still does it. When at rest the volts read 12.49 and after starting it it reads 11.8 or so while idleing. Any ideas here? Thanks in advance

So it still dies when you are driving?

If so I think it could be a selenoid issue...

I would go to Autozone and have them test your Charging System...I think they still do that...

I will look into that. Also I have not driven it. But I tested it in the garage with a dig. volt meter. I know that when the car is running it should be in the 14 volt range give or take but the voltage actually drops when running like there is a big draw on the battery (even when all acc. are off)) I have checked fuses, fusable links and wires but I'll be damned if I can see anything

If the voltage drops when the car is runnig then you have an altenator or a selenoid issue...Maybe your wires are not connected correctly on the starter selenoid...It should be up on the driver side of the engine bay at top of the fender-well...
