Any Way Around The Mach Audio System?

Hey guys i was wondering i have a 2003 v6 with a mach 460 audio system. most people say i have to replace everything if i want a new head unit or subs. has anyone heard of a way around this or will i have to get my car totally rewired and buy all new speakers?

Not sure about the head unit (although you probably have to replace the amps if you do it, but I'm not sure) - however to add subs all you need is a line out converter to get the signal from the head unit, then run your amp and subs as you would any other setup. PS - moving this to the electronics forum for a better response.

You can add a new headunit and then just get the Mitre adapter so you can use the 460 with the aftermarket head-unit...

To run subs you are going to need to run new amps in the rear...You need to make sure you pick up a head-unit with pre-amp outputs...

Then you get an install kit from your local best buy or some place like that...Run the RCA Jacks, Power wire, And remote wire back to the trunk of the car...Also find a good place to attach a ground wire and run that to the amp too...Hook it all up to the amps...Then run the amps to the subs...Its pretty easy...And if you read the directions it will be no worry...

I think he ment Metra

http://www.metraonline.com/
http://www.metraonline.com/product_l...stang&type=ALL
Look for the 70-5511

PAC makes some nice items to let you use your stock head unit if you would like

http://www.pac-audio.com/

For running just 2 subs you need a mono or 2 ch amp that matches up with the subs you get.So if you get 2 4Ohm subs get a 2ohm stable mono amp or a 2 ch. and run one sub off each ch.

you want the metra 70-5521, it has RCA inputs for the two amps in the back. My AVIC-D2 runs the tweeters in front and rear, then it's sub preout is fed thru the metra harness to feed the woofers in the door and rear shelf.

HERES WHAT IT LOOKS LIKE WHEN YOU PULL OUT THE MACH, 2 CONNECTORS, ONE FOR THE SUBS AND THE OTHER HAS YOUR TWEETERS, 12V, GROUND, VSS WIRE, AND ACC WIRE.

THIS PIC SHOWS THE SUB HARNESS OF THE METRA 70-5521 W/RCA INPUTS

I think you ment outputs not inputs right?(well inputs(to the harness) from your head unit outputs)Any way you can tell me the pin outs on that part of the harness for the RCA`s?I hacked in to mine at the back and it lets in tons of noise

I only need
left RCA +
left RCA -
right RCA +
right RCA _

Use this as a ref for pins and I can finish it up and post it for all to see.If you want to find the rest of the pins out I am sure people can maybe use them to.(8 pins right I forget of the top of my head?)

I meant Metra...I got one of the letter wrong...Chill

NO "Mitre" is a govt contracting company...

I work with alot of them over at Langley AFB, VA

General Dynamics
SAIC
Mitre
Boos Allen
Lockheed Martin and other...

I was not talking about getting a job working for Metra...I work for the govt now and will work for the govt for prolly the rest of my life...Plus I dont think Metra would match the salary for the job I am going for anyways...

Back on subject though...

Use the adapters and you should be good to go...

If you zoom into the pic I posted you can see that the positive for left and right are the 2 pins on the far end. On your chart, 4 is positive left, 8 is positive right, negative is the pin directly to the left of those two pins. Pins 1 and 5 are the turn on leads for the 2 amps. Pins 2 and 6 are not used.
