Mach 460

Which would sound better in my car: The Stock Mach 460 head unit, or an aftermarket one? Also, how do you hook the wiring harness adapter into the wiring harness? Do you unplug the wires out of the stock amp?

I think if you just change your HU it's going to make it sound worse. The amps that come w/ the Mach system are specifically tuned to the output of the stock HU. If you change the HU, the levels to the amps might be different and cause the output to be worse. If you start changing more it'll be a different story but just changing HU will make it worse.

change it out. it'll sound better. just make sure you get a head unit with sufficient pre-outs. i.e. front, rear and sub pre-outs. you'll also want something that has adjustable pre-out levels so that you don't run into a situation where you're over driving the factory amps with too much signal. i've done it in several cars and never heard one that sounded worse. if it's done right with good components, it will sound good.

He said just changing the HU, nothing about getting good components (assuming you're talking about the speakers). Also, what's your definition of good...just louder? I've had tons of friends who think their system sounds "awesome" but it's just loud. Then when they come and listen to mine they are like...
