Mach 460

So, I bought a new cd/radio unit for my cobra. I go to install it, and nothing lines up. I was not aware the 460 was such a pita to alter. So, I get this 25 dollar harness from circuit city, and once again I realize I'm screwed. So, my question is, why did ford make such a pos wiring configuration, not label things, and make it extremely difficult to install an aftermarket unit? Any help would be greatly appreciated. At this point, I am lost and giving up.

I feel your pain.
I just ripped out all the Mach 460 crap.
Looking at the wiring for the system, it was a nightmare.
The front and rear amps were bridged and I had to locate the connector and unbridge them in the harness.
But, I'm almost done with my install.

just get the right harness from a smaller, more "custom" type shop that actually knows what they're talking about. everything will line up fine.

1) you need a H/U with F/R rca pre-outs
2) buy the harness from your local sound shop
3) harness Scosche Harnesses Harness FD LOWLEVEL HEADUNIT KIT at Scosche.com
4) plug them in, wire it up (make sure you power up the amp wire (blue/white to blue/white), and plug the RCA connections in and you are done

about 45 minutes worth of work. Not hard at all if you have all the right parts
